He is visiting Auburn this weekend. I still think we have a good shot of getting him if we are willing to lie to him like Tennessee has done and promise him a chance of early playing time

Possibly play up the similarities to Cam. Under a best case scenario, Cam is pretty much what he would be anyway. I think he would like the comparison

Nice.

FWIW, I've been saying this and will say it again... I would rather us recruit Torrance Gibson as a quarterback, start him out as a quarterback, and then transition him into a wide receiver. I really love his athleticism, but I don't like his other quarterbacks traits.

It's hard for me to question Gus Malzahn after what he's done with Chris Todd, Cam Newton and Nick Marshall, though...

Why would UT promising him the chance of early playing time be a lie?

Here's our depth chart:

Worley- SR

Peterman/Dobbs- SO (neither one has been impressive, imo.)

I think you're just being a fig.

Because this kid cant even play quarterback in a 7 on 7 tournament right now. How the hell is he going to play at any college right away? He is a major project as a passer

Luckily we have quarterbacks in place now that he could have a few years before needing to play if then.

I agree that he genuinely can play much earlier at UT than AU. But if you guys play him early, you'll win maybe 3 games with him at QB. He needs to sit for 2-3 years before he'll be ready as a qB in the SEC.

At AU I can't see him beating out Jeremy Johnson or Sean White after Johnson is gone. Honestly I don't think he'd beat out Tyler Queen right now either. If he develops, yeah he's an athletic freak, but he needs to develop a lot.

This kid could absolutely turn into a Anquan Boldin type player, where there isn't a spot for him to be a true freshman qb, then he plays out wide, realizes how awesome he can be, sees a pro future, and never looks back

Update: Apparently he called 247 up yesterday to tell them to change OSU from Warmer to Warm and Auburn from Warm to Warmer because of OSU's QB who committed.

Guy is an absolutely tremendous talent, but he knew the entire time OSU was planning on taking 2 guys, and stated previously (I'm pretty sure), that he didn't care.

I'm ranting

which is funny because Auburn already has a very, very good QB committed. Tyler Queen is going to have a monstrous season and once he re-adjusts his weight in Auburn's S&C program he'll be a stud QB.

I guess I just am not sure if this kid has a bigger ego than Pryor did back in the day. At least Pryor was the #1 player in the country according to most, and had some sort of passing ability in HS.

I don't usually get bothered, but that just struck a nerve with me.

How does 247 usually get the info on "cool, warm, warmer?" Do they call up every prospect, or just kind of make judgment calls?

Gibson is a head case. Below average QB. Cannot even beat out the other QB on his 7 on 7 team. The only offense he can play QB in and be successful in major CFB is a run first Spread. My guess is he will transition into a WR wherever he chooses.

Francois is the best QB in FL for '15, although he's not the best QB. He is leaning FSU heavily. Hell, he works with Chris Weinke on a daily basis as well, so that helps them.

Yet another reason why Auburn would be wise to land him. Hell if he ends up figuring things out in the passing game, awesome. If not, he's got elite potential at WR and we already have a very polished QB committed for the '15 class.

Yet another reason he would be smart to go to Auburn is what i would say.

If he is dead set on being a quarterback then at Auburn he would have time to develop into that. I hate to sound so optimistic about our quarterback roster but we have several capable guys that affords us the opportunity to take a long term project with a high ceiling for our offense.

The worst thing the kid can do is go somewhere that he will be thrown onto the field unprepared for his competition early in his career.
