The SEC's 25 scholarship rule question

I got into the conversation on this with a friend of mine and he said the most anybody can sign Is 30. He said you can sign 5 earl enrolees in December that count back to the previous year if you signed fewer than 25. In addition you can only sign 25 max in February.
The reason I run this up is because some Georgia and Texas A&M posters have been saying they will sign 31-33
SEC teams will be allowed to sign only 25 football players to a national letter-of-intent. The period that encompasses will be changed to Dec. 1 to May 31 and will include mid-year and summer enrollees as well.

As I understand it, it's supposed to be 25. 25 signees point blank period. Only 25 per cycle, no shuffling.
Of course Bama said F all that already, we'll see how much teeth the mandate has. UGA has a lot of roster slots to fill and if they oversign w/o punishment then it will all be for not and those of us schools that only signed 25 the last 2 seasons will be pissed because we all lost out on a couple guys that could have made a difference.

We only signed 19 last year. So we have 6 extra schollys to use this year. Its not rocket science.

The rule isn't clear and now with Mizzou and A&M in he SEC where does their number start. Do they get grandfathered in?
I just don't see any SEC schools signing over 30 In a class if my source is correct and he is a sports writer.

I do seem to remember a limited number of back counting. Five sounds right.

You are only able to sign 5 EEs in Dec.
I think 30 is the max

I thought they changed it to starting dec 1st. So the kids who sign for ee still do it after dec 1. I don't think the period encompasses a whole year but they made it during a period which pretty much forces it as the only outcome to have 25.

I probably am. I've just read and listened to what others have said. If you can oversign then why is there a limit in the first place.

I can't quite figure this out either.

I feel like you've said this, more times than you have made this thread.

Glad somebody agrees with me.

The period they setup does not allow for back counting anymore. It's all about the date change.

How is this so hard for people to understand. There is no backcount limit of 5. Whoever said that is wrong. Last year Uga signed 19 and backcounted 3, making 16. We now have 9 extra schollies for this year, so we could theoretically sign 34

Obviously you haven't a clue as to the new rules.
