He made it official, G League pathway program bound. 2nd top 10 player this week to bypass college for this.

@wojespn: Reporting w/ @Draftexpress: Jalen Green is making the leap to a reshaped NBA professional pathway program, a G-League initiative that’ll pay elite prospects $500K-plus and provide a one-year development program outside of minor-league’s traditional team structure. Story soon.

Market capitalism wins again. Unless you're a blue blood, don't waste time chasing these five stars imo

In 2022 draft they will draft from high school again, I dont know if they will have a you have to be in school for x amount of years if you choose school (they should, at least 2 if not 3 years), but that will help college basketball again. I wonder if they will allow undrafted high school kids to go to college, that will be the most interesting thing (if they declared for draft).
Cal may also quit

They could just speed up the process of letting HS players go straight into the draft again. This program seems a bit pointless.
Somehow the NCAA gets blamed for the NFL and NBA's rules on allowing players to be in their leagues.

Not only does Jalen Green get $500k to play basketball, the NBA/G League is giving him a $125,000 scholarship to use to get his college education whenever he wants.
Yeah, no kid is gonna turn down that offer

He said if he had chosen a college it would've been Memphis.

Well, that certainly left with a case of the blue balls.

I read an article where even the best G league players find it difficult to get called up to the NBA. Meanwhile players like Anthony Edwards and Zion Williams spent one year in college and sign a contract worth tens of millions of dollars.
Seems to me if you're one of these top players, the one and done deal in college is the better way to go. Yeah, you have to wait a year for any money, but the money is a lot bigger. Anthony Edwards went to a non-power in basketball at UGA and still will get tens of millions.

I'm fairy certain the high school guys going straight to the G-league are eligible for the NBA draft next year. So there's really no reason not to go if you're being offered hundreds of thousands of dollars to not already start your pro career, but do it against fringe NBA talent every day that some of which actually gets called up to play in NBA games and get way better development than you would in college. Fact is, G-league is basically minor league for NBA, same rules and pacing/offenses, etc. Just a way better deal for high school kids to do that for a year and make a lot of $$$ than spend a year in college in some system no NBA team runs remotely close to probably.
So in Jalen Green's case, he will be receiving near NBA level coaching and play against just under sub-NBA talent for a year while making half a million bucks and then assuming all is good gets drafted in the Top 5 the following year anyways.
