What do you mean? They've been to 2 BCS games. How many has A&M been to? How many 10 win seasons does A&M have?

What do you mean?
-They are not in a BCS conference, and the playoff era will cut down their access.
-They lost their coach and engine behind this period
-In five years BCS games that weren't national titles won't matter
-They got no major recruiting, money or any sort of long-term stability boost

I'm absolutely SHOCKED that a kid from Indiana would spurn LSU at the last minute to go to a school in Indiana (Notre Dame)

DSG has already enrolled at A&M. There was a paperwork issue or he would have been announced along with the other five.
Don't quit your day job.

In '87 A&M had just won back to back SWC Titles and was on its way to a 3rd straight. Max Emfinger was considered the best recruiting analyst at the time and he declared A&M and Pitt as tied for the #1 Class. The headliners of the class were Randy Simmons who was considered the best RB in the country but blew out his knee in an All Star Game and was never the same along with Darren Lewis who was an AA RB that set the All Time SWC Rushing record. Most of the recruiting rankings back then were based on the various newspapers and it is true it was nothing like it is now.
It's still ridiculous to compare kids that were recruited by a school (esp one close to home) and then decommit to go to that school and this situation. DSG has not been recruited by Boise. They simply don't get players of his caliber nor significant players from Texas. Unless you take the further leap that Yates knew he was going to leave and started actively recruiting A&M commits to Boise there isn't even a way for a Boise coach to contact him because it is the Dead period.
As I said, it's possible but so ridiculously unlikely it isn't worth talking about. If you told me he was going to LSU or something then that's at least plausible since he has an LSU offer and was recruited actively by LSU.

I also know that Sumlin met with a GA who wanted to go to Boise with Yates about contacting recruits and talking to them about Boise.
The dead period is a joke. You really think kids aren't in contact with schools?

I agree about Miles. He would have started. I guess the worry for him is who the DB coach will be.

That's pretty mature to make a ULM joke. It only has the highest regarded school of construction in the nation.
I'll be sure to let all the Aggies who work for me know that I'm apparently dumb since I went to ULM.

I found A&M on this list of Top Construction schools pretty easily but seem to have trouble locating ULM.

Well, he did say SCHOOL OF CONSTRUCTION and not Construction "Science". That might be your first problem.

Rule of Thumb: When trading academic smack, follow these simple rules.
1. Make sure you actually hold at least a Bachelor's Degree. Masters or PhDs are even better.
2. Make sure you're the one RESPONDING to the academic smack...not initiating.

1. I have a Degree
2. I didn't start the academic smack.
Also, the degrees are all comparable. For instance at ULM they have a "School of Construction Management" and you get a BS in CM. At A&M it is a "School of Construction Science" and you get a Bachelors in CS or a Masters in CM. They are both accredited by the ACCE.

The least of my worries is that Boise will raid A&M's recruits.
That is a f'n joke!

Recruits make everyone look foolish. I try to always remember that they are allowed to change their minds, and this is about them and their future and not the school I root for. But it's still hard.
With DSG, he really doesn't have a close relationship with his family, so going out of Texas was always an option for him. His mom made like two of his high school games and passed on going with him to the UAAAG.
Hell, he found out about coach Yates by searching the internet for DB coaches who put kids in the NFL, and really built a relationship with him.

I agree. Of course. They're kids and usually don't have the loyalties or connections that make us, well, fans. My point being was that starting a bump war isn't in his best interest.

I agree. That's why I didn't bump the thread even though everyone thought I was crazy. I will say that this flip is more odd than your typical situation, and I understand why TAMU fans wouldn't think it would happen.

Still not worse than Corey Nelson.
Posted on 1/5/14 at 12:49 am to Xenophon
Corey Nelson was a big LB commit that was essentially "Mr Aggie". He would actively recruit for A&M and was super positive on everything A&M. Then on signing day out of nowhere he switched to OU and basically laughed in every Aggies face.
Easily the most painful last minute flip in the last decade for A&M, especially because it came at a time when we were already down and just starting to pick ourselves up.

You forgot about Sherman getting wind of the switch a week out. Brent Venables told Nelson to LIE to the A&M coaching staff and say he was still committed, then flip on NSD.
