Had been tumbling in the rankings, following our former OC Golesh to Tampa.

Yeah that's what I'd be saying if a 4star TE flipped for USF too.

Sure, but he is tumbling in the rankings. I think he was listed as an athlete on some sites because he has pretty good potential at EDGE, so my theory is that they took his commitment hoping he might swap positions but maybe he isn't really keen on that.

USF did give Bama more of a game than Tennessee did this year.

After the 2021 Sophomore season at Franklin Georgia, he was the #1TE in his class. He played both sides of the ball and ran track. He then transferred to IMG for the 2022 season to play TE. He was at IMG for 2022 and 2023 seasons. The two years at IMG, he didn’t play 1 full season. He stayed injured and the when he did play he didn’t do well against other top talent. After seeing this, UT started looking for other TE’s and back off recruiting. While he is a 4* he is not ranked in the 247sports Top 300 anymore and is listed as the #18 TE in his class now.

HC at USF and was the OC/TE coach at UT under Heupel for two years prior taking the USF job. Once UT backed off, other major programs did as well who Hd previously offered him. After his 2 years at IMG, most major programs stoped recruiting him. This is the reason for USF commitment. USF was logical and best fit for him after after UT backed off along with every major program as well. There is a reason why he never de committed publicly till he committed to USF the same day.

UT offered both TE’s 3 days ago and scheduled a visit for Haas to be on campus this weekend. Once UT extended offers to both, that’s when Echols committed to USF the next day.

365yds in 2 seasons is why every major program lost interest and the fact he played in like 12 games in 2 years and was injured for the rest of the them.

You couldn’t be more wrong about this situation. Tennessee backed off him along with every major program. USF was his best option after UT decided to go a different direction.

He screwed himself when he went to IMG. Going to IMG exposed him and he dropped in the rankings. Prior to IMG he was ranked as the #1 TE, and top 300. Now he’s rated as #18 TE and not ranked in top 300 per 247sports. Once he got on the field with kids bigger, faster, and stronger, he didn’t rise up and stayed hurt.
12-6-2023- UT offered #2 TE in portal Joly
12-7-2023- UT offered #1 TE in portal Staes
12-7-2023- UT schedules Steas for weekend cmapus visit(12/9&11/10.
12-8-2023- Echols commits to USF
See the timeline of events that this thing went down? Echols has been recruited by Golesh since Golesh has been at UT under Heupel. When no major school was interested, the obvious choice was USF. Now if he shows he can stay healthy there and be a good TE, then I would expect him to transfer after couple years.
UT is heavily after Staes and Joly. We also have. We also have Ethan Davis and Emmanuel Okoye.

They’ve moved on from Jolly. He was supposed to visit this past weekend but Tennessee canceled it.
