Something new I learned about recruiting today

So my little brother is a swimmer. He has taken a couple officials thus far. When he goes to a school, he stays with a host player. That player then had $40 to spend on my brother while he is there. Whatever money is left over, that host gets to keep. My brother has to sign several NCAA documents stating the money wasnt used for drugs blah blah. But if swimming gets $40 how much do you think football or basketball gets? $60-80? And they get to keep the extra. Poor athletes never get money.

yeah that is a shite ton of money. All the kids that leave early for the pros must just hate books.

Also, most food is provided for athletes during trips. This money is for anything extra, like if they want a shirt from the bookstore or anything else they want. Recruit doesnt use up any of the money? Host gets to keep it all...

I know you're being sarcastic because it's not a lot of money. What is a lot of money is their books, tuition, meals and all the free Nike shite they get. Oh yea, and their reimbursement check they get each semester from what's left over after everything is covered.
But still, $60-80 to a college kid can go a long ways.

You do realize that not every player does those things... right? I never did, I'd speak to recruits and give them the party line but I didn't want to baby sit.

At oklahoma state a couple baseball guys hosted 8 baseball recruits a couple weeks back. They were given $800 to basically just buy them dinner twice. It's nuts. Gotta wonder how much the football guys get.
