Ah. Thank you for that insight. Glad we cleared that up.

What's up, Judge? Do me a favor and rule on that fricking motion that has been sitting in your inbox for 3 days. Gracias.

BTW, how funny would it be if the kid got a job working for the Georgia branch of the UA National Alumni Association doing student recruiting or something...god dog, I love loopholes...

I actually thought about that as well, practically immediately. Some sattelite office shite established in GA. Funny how we both instantly think of loopholes.

Yea, Saban is begging this 3 star grayshirt to stay with Bama. We don't grayshirt kids we don't want to lose. We grayshirt kids when we ended up with more and better commits than we originally thought. Our best hope is that this kid gets the picture and moves on to a school who wants him more than we do. But nevertheless, we are giving him a spot if he still wants
quote:

List your greyshirts the past 4 years. How many have been Processed already ? Saban culls his roster, if you do not work out , he cuts you. That is why he has the biggest advantage in College Football. If you oversign 5 players per year and cut to make room for them, that reduces your odds of making a poor evaluations by 20% per class. Teams like Ole Miss oversign due to grades, Alabama oversigns to increase the selection pool.

So?

What's wrong with that?

And, why the hell do so many folks give a shite about how Saban runs his program?

Dunno. Like I said already, nothing will come of this.

I do kinda like making fun of your brethren that still can't seem to grasp context in the application of NCAA bylaws however.

Guy knows his options, he just aounds set on Alabama. Unless we give him a hookup with a highpaying job hed otherwise never get, i cant see anything morally wrong, even if naysayrers go with word by word definitions.

Here are the rules regarding employment of a prospect:

13.2.3.2 Prior to Completion of Senior Year—Athletics Award Winners. An institution may employ
a prospective student-athlete who is an athletics award winner in any department outside of intercollegiate athletics,
provided the employment is arranged through normal institutional employment procedures (e.g., local
newspaper, bulletin board listings) and without the intervention of any member of the institution’s coaching
staff. Any compensation received by the prospective student-athlete must be for work actually performed and
commensurate with the going rate for such services in the locale. For purposes of this bylaw, institutional recreation
programs, even if reporting to the athletics director, may be considered outside the intercollegiate athletics
department. An institution may hire a prospective student-athlete, who is an athletics award winner, in its
recreation programs, only if recreation and facility managers and no intercollegiate coaches are involved with the
hiring and supervision of these employees. (Adopted: 4/29/04 effective 8/1/04)
13.2.3.3 After Completion of Senior Year. An institution may arrange for employment or employ any prospective
student-athlete (regardless of athletics award winner status), provided the employment does not begin
prior to the completion of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year in high school. (See Bylaw 13.12.1.5.1.)

So we've figured out that this isn't a violation? So Saban promised a kid a scholarship who had a bad knee injury and didn't violate any rules....sweet thread guys.

The rule states what they can, and can't do, relative to employment.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- After being asked to delay his enrollment at Alabama until next year, previously committed running back Justin Taylor has decided to seek out another school to sign with in February.

Taylor, a 5-foot-11, 200-pound running back from Atlanta's Washington High School, told the Atlanta-Journal Constitution in an interview Sunday that he was still planning to sign with the Crimson Tide after head coach Nick Saban asked him to delay his enrollment until January of 2013, a process known as "grayshirting", due to Alabama having more committed recruits than the 25 they will be allowed to accept on National Signing Day. Taylor now says he has changed his mind.

"At first I was cool with it but the more I thought about it, the less I liked it," Taylor said. "I have already missed an entire season of football because of my injury. I decided I just can't miss another season. It's no hard feelings against Alabama but I just decided it's best for me if I go somewhere that I can be at least practicing with the team this year, even if I have to redshirt. I haven't talked to any other schools yet but I will start looking right now."
