Does he know they don't Trans-Ams or Pontiacs anymore?

Don't be surprised if he pulls a fast one and commits to the might Baylor Bears, #1 offense in the USA this year.

Now you Bears had your lone football highlight with the upset of Kansas St. a few weeks ago.
Now to see what your school does best, get back to women's basketball.

agreed, but you need OL and defense, otherwise you become Arkansas under Petrino. aTm is getting too enamoured with skill positions. Recruit the beef or you will be middle of the pack.

We are recruiting the beef as well. We have four 4* DTs committed for 2013. We have four athletic and big OL committed. We have something like 5 LBs committed and still trying to land the stud ILB from Hawaii who we lead for.
I completely agree on the premise that only recruiting skill position players turns you into Arkansas the last few seasons. I think however that we will have that skill position talent of Arkansas with the athleticism and beef necessary to compete in the front 7 on defense and continue to have a dominant OL

The DL haul is arguably the strength of a very strong 2013 class.

DT, not so much DE, and DT's are one of the hardest if not the hardest position to project.
A couple examples.
LSU
5* DT- Al Woods (barely even started his senior season)
5* DT-Chris Davenport (has yet to see the field)
4* DT-Joseph Barksdale (became a damn fine OT)
Miami-5* DT, one of the top 10 players in the country out of Northwestern HS Marcus Fortson had an okay freshman season and never had a season better.
Florida-5* Torrey Davis didn't get to play much, gets kicked off the team.
5* DT Gary Brown kicked off team
Florida St.-5* DT Jacobbi McDaniel
Michigan-5* DT William Campbell isn't even projected in the top 20 DT's in this years draft as he is finishing up his senior season at UM.
Also, look at Taylor Bible at UT, guy is just too fat to play, was also a 4*.
Plenty of examples throughout CFB. Expect a fair portion of those guys to either not pan out or find their way some where else one way or another. Just expect it so you won't be disappointed if it does happen because it usually does. Thats what happens when you recruit good talent, there are plenty of risks.
See Hoza Scott, he already looks like a behavioral risk. Great player no doubt, plenty of questions.

Why are you arguing the law of averages as a gambit to trivialize A&M's DL class?
Of course everything is speculative. Of course guys may not pan out.
So what?
As evinced by your examples--notwithstanding your cherry picking--that reality isn't exclusive to Texas A&M.
Recruiting isn't a science--you do the best you can with what you've got. We're all playing that game.
I just have no idea why you think this is relevant to whether A&M's DL class is the strength of the entire 2013 class. It's tough to project--we know. So you index your confidence to account for the risk. Either way, we're all dealing with the same issues.

Johnny Football got popped for petty theft his senior year in high school.
Behavioral risks are an inherent, invariable part of recruiting for every school.
Water is wet.

Because it seems as though many A&M fans believe that just because they have a good recruiting class they are automatically going to get better next year or just replace the guys leaving as if every player is going to be every bit he's hyped up to be.
Seen many "2013 A&M roster breakdowns" note freshman as a reason they will be "better" on defense or just replace 2 WR's who probably produced more than any duo of WR's in the history of A&M over their careers. Along with like 1 of the best OT's A&M has had in decades.
I assume this is all predicated on the fact that every player in A&M's class is going to be good and exactly what they're projected to be.

Dude, the only reason fans follow recruiting is the hope it provides for the future.
You don't have a problem with Aggie fans, you have a problem with all fans who follow recruiting. You have a problem with all fans who don't think their program will come crashing down one year removed from a very significant season (arguably the most significant in te program's modern history).
You've done a poor job disguising your motives. Just come out and say it: A&M's success is very bothersome for you. The sooner the other shoe drops for the Ags, the happier you'll be.
But right now it looks like that show is going to stay suspended in the air for now. We're playing the game of recruiting extremely well. We're doing all we need to raise the profile of the program to a legitimate top 10 level. Will it happen? I don't know. We're all going to have to wait.

I don't "flame" A&M threads, aggies just say really stupid things constantly in terms of where they stand, everyone on the board now knows it too. Its annoying as hell.
Top 10 Programs in college football. keyword PROGRAMS, schools with a great amount of talent, and recent success.
Whether you like it or not, TEXAS is an elite program, everyone knows they have top 5 talent currently.
Then LSU, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio St., Florida St., Georgia, USC.
Yes, they recruit well, but they've been recruiting well for 5+ years, and over that time span they have players pan out, but from each class there are more than enough busts.
All the above schools have also had at least one season with 5+ losses in their time of great recruiting success.
You and every A&M fan make it seem certain you are going to out recruit everyone now and that will automatically translate into wins....when thats so far off its not even funny.

you are retarded and are the worst poster BY FAR on the rant. we can go back and forth but you will never change in your amount of stupidity. the fact that you think us recruiting well will do nothing for our program proves this when every other logical human being thinks otherwise. flame on idiot

And all that top 5 talent has gotten them is an Alamo Bowl berth. Which, to the horror of their Wal-Mart t-shirt fan base, is an improvement over the prior two years.
And now they're genuinely concerned that their incoming 4* QB is not all people thought he was (couldn't stay healthy, and led his team to a 1-9 record in AA football), so now they're bringing in a JUCO transfer. The Longhorns could have SIX (that's not a misprint) QB's on their roster next season.
