As if that can't be true. It is entirely possible considering it happens a lot in sports. Did you just start getting into sports the last year or so?

Offenses design plays to go away from the stronger players all the time. Doesn't mean Ryans is bad at all. He is a very strong and good LB, and I did not respond to join the debate on whose LB is better. Just wanted to point out the statement you rolled your eyes at is true in a lot of ways.

You are trying to compare two LBs who don't play the same role in the defense using a single statistic.

No. Someone else started the debate saying that Dansby was the best LB in the NFL o have played at Bama or AU. Someone else said Ryan's and McClain were only arguments. I made arguments or those players.

I'd eater have Ryans' career and McClain's contract, tbh. None of that is a slam on Dansby so stop being so defensive about it

Yes, that actually does happen a lot. Not only does that happen at linebacker, but it also happens at a lot of other positions.

Hell, Takeo Spikes had more tackles last year than Roloando McClain and Karlos Dansby. Does that mean he's better? Let's look at receivers. Wes Welker had more catches and yards than Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Steve Smith, Mike Wallace, Vincent Jackson, AJ Green, Hakeem Nicks, etc... Does that make him better? Let's look at interceptions. Kyle Arrington had more interceptions than Champ Bailey, Darrelle Revis, Carlos Rogers, etc... Does that make him better?

I think you get the point. Stats don't tell the whole story.

DA frick?? Come on TTs you're WAY better than this, I hope that was not a serious statement but an attempt to get a reaction out of Cajun, cause that is a ridiculous statement when not qualified, Derrick Thomas is an NFL HOFer and NO LB to ever play at AU is at his level, and Bama has 3 more after him cmon man

BuccWild, if you would simply read the thread, you would notice that I was referring to CURRENT players. I made that very obvious when I listed Karlos Dansby, Ro McClain, Takeo Spikes, Dont'a Hightower, Courtney UpShaw, DeMeco Ryans, etc.

I don't know why some posters make this whole message board thing seem so difficult...

You mean the same Dansby who set the record, at the time, for highest contract for a linebacker, ever?

Yeah, the one higher than McClain's?

Thomas davis is better than all of them. Only problem is a f---ed up ACL. He is a beast from UGA, but torn his ACL 3 times in 3 years

You seem like a nice guy, but you don't know shite about contracts and guaranteed money evidently. Rolando's had larger gtd money, and was structured in such a way to make it a probability that he would get closer to the full $42m he signed for than Dansby will the $43m he signed for.

Also, Dansby's contract made him one of higher paid LBs, not the highest.

Dansby - 22 mil guaranteed
McClain - 23 mil guaranteed

Dansby - 43 mil total
McClain - 40 mil total

not what you said TTs in your original post I quoted, so next time just put last 10 yrs or 15 or something please to qualify, that's why I put what I did

& Dansby MIGHT be the best CURRENT, matter of opinion, but mnot for long after Demeco as an Eagle, Upshaw as a Raven, and DH as a Pat, his time is EXTREMELY short as that distinction fwiw...

Reuben Foster is going to be the best UGA NFL LBer ever, and far better than dansby-Ryans-Upshaw. Book it.

Reading a message board is hard for some people...

Damn, I'll spell this out for you.

cajunsack's quote:

quote:

Since there are a plethora of auburn LBs laying wood in the NFL right now right?

My response:

quote:

This is borderline sad.

Although, Auburn does have the better linebacker of any that played at Auburn/Alabama. His name is Karlos Danbsy.

Next you'll come up with the predictable, "He didn't even play for Chizik!"

Then I went on to add names of players that played CURRENTLY in the NFL. If you can't read between the lines of all that, avoid trying to argue/discuss with others.

Besides, don't you think if I was talking about ALL-TIME players, I would've included names from 10, 20, 30, etc... year ago?

Right, all the Alabama linebackers will become greater than any Auburn linebacker in the NFL just because they played for Alabama. You failed to mention that DeMeco Ryans is coming off of a very serious injury.
