Long, but interesting article on the changing dynamics of recruiting in Ga free from UGA Scout writer Dean Legge. It's written from the Georgia perspective, but much of it applies to other schools as well.

It also talks about the importance of dealing with the millennial generation differently in relation to recruiting.

Hat tip to dallasga6 on the UGA recruiting thread.

at the second half of the "Taking Full Advantage" section.

I enjoyed that read. I think a little bit of it is misguided, but it wasn't bad. The "Taking Full Advantage" section came off as a little whiny and soap box-ey.

I agree with the whiney part a little. He could have left out the stuff about president Adams

I agree. I just thought some people would overreact to him writing that.

You might want to temper your expectations a bit. He'll get some kids, but he has been much less effective the last few years.

The one thing that article did not address at all that I was curious about is the future role of High School Coaches in the recruiting process. Are the High School coaches getting written out of the recruiting equation by all the camps and 7 on 7 stuff that is going on? It used to be UGA had a huge advantage in Georgia because we could "talk" to the coaches and high school administrators on a "unique" level(i.e. the advantages for a kids future after ball by staying in state & playing at UGA)...

Seems kids nowadays are not often taking the advice of their HS coaching mentors anymore. With so many folks who are close to these recruits looking for a payday, these Millenium kids are not the same, and Legge did a nice job explaining how far different they are...

What do you think the role of High School coaches will be in the future?

Like the idea bout having a Friday Nt practice in Gwinnett...I think he's somewhat clueless about metro Atl...doesn't even mention East Cobb or N.Fulton areas (both places full of prospects and the numbers are growing)

Sorry,we should own Gwinnett...right in our backyard and full of Dawg fans...I would guess we have more students from Gwinnett than any other county in the state.
