Alabama has been trying to find the right quarterback to take over for Bryce Young, who is expected to be one of the top picks in Thursday night’s NFL draft. Jalen Milroe and Ty Simpson have been competing for the job but combined for three interceptions in Saturday’s A-Day Game.

Buchner began the 2022 season as the starter before suffering a shoulder injury in Week 2 against Marshall. After missing the next 10 games, the California native returned to start Notre Dame’s Gator Bowl matchup against South Carolina and helped the Irish pull out a 45-38 win. Although he threw three interceptions, including two pick-sixes, Buchner accumulated 273 passing yards, 61 rushing yards and five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing).

Seems like they will be entertaining some portal QBs, which is expected. It will be interesting to see who else they might bring in for a visit. This will be a situation to watch for a bit. It will tell us what Alabama really feels about their QB room.

He was absolutely terrible in their loss to Marshall.

Buchner

I'd be really surprised if Buchner beat out any QB on the Bama roster. Him getting hurt last year was a positive for ND.

Imagine being excited about having the QB who threw a crucial pick 6 in a loss to Marshall.

Was wondering the same thing. I looked it up:

The second NCAA transfer portal cycle for 2023 has officially opened. The portal initially cranked into gear with the FBS transfer window that lasted from Dec. 5, 2022, to Jan. 18, 2022, and now it reopens April 15-30.

That is the window to enter the portal. I'm not sure, once a player enters the portal when they have to commit or sit out, though.
