Steve Witfong even thinks Gary heads South.

Steve Lorenze is a different story and had this to say about SEC schools.

but it is standard for the SEC sites to believe he will stay down south.

Sounds like a butthurt Yankee.

It's pretty telling that he brought his mom back to Baton Rouge two weeks after visiting for camp. And to say this visit this week was a great one would be an understatement. To say "Gary's recruitment is between ___ and ___" and not include LSU at this point would be a mistake

I don't understand why all the optimsum, I guess. He brought his mom to our camp with him. Does that mean Georgia is in the thick of things? She raved about UGA and said we would get an OV. Still I don't think we are necessarily in it. Just because he went to your camp and then brought his mom back with him means nothing. The same thing is going on with UGA, except she came to the camp with him, and then is coming back to visit us with him again.

I still think it is between Auburn and Michigan with Michigan in the lead.

IF you insist going by your reasoning...if we include LSU then you must include UGA, and I just don't think that is the case. They rave about every school they visit. They are just very nice people.

Well, she came to UGA and she raved about Georgia so obviously we are in the top 2.

The talent pool is deep this year for Dlinemen and LSU is in dire need.Would not be surprised to see the remaining spots filled on the front 7.I'm not sure who LSU will finish with but they're making Dlinemen a priority.

No doubt that LSU will get some great players. Not sold at all Gary will be one of them. To see some of the LSU posters on here, I can't imagine how LSU doesn't have the #1 recruiting class every year.

LSU posters claim to have the best coaches, the best facilities, the best recruits and the best overall players. There are several teams that are making the defensive line a priority. Georgia is one....Auburn another...Florida....yet, because LSU makes it a priority Gary is going there?

On one board (Recruiting) LSU posters claim LSU will be in a 4-3 this coming season so gary will go with them. On the regular board your posters claim you will be in "multiple" 3-4 formations (Whatever that is). I am convinced that LSU fans know less about their team than any other fan base.

LSU's base defense will be 4-3. They will switch to 3-4 and 3-2-5 in certain circumstances. The biggest difference you will notice will be more blitzes and attention to creating turnovers. I'm not convinced by Steele just yet, but I'm also not convinced he's going to give up 50+ to spread offenses. We are going to be aggressive in D, but I'm worried we might be too aggressive with the blitz packages leaving our secondary out of place.

Ftr the media is the one driving LSU moving to a 3-4 based on the Steele hire. We aren't moving to a solely 3-4. Does that help?

Holy shite. Dumbest thing I've ever read. I think people can't get any dumber and then the internet does it again.

Read #5 before posting again and may God have mercy on your soul.

I have been following this thread daily. It's interesting reading. Imagine my dismay when I saw chexmix as the last poster when I opened the RB in a thread about an LSU/auburn battle for a d lineman. It's not a surprise as his posts are many times filled with much LSU hate and trolling.

Now imagine, for the first time I can just about ever recall, I am in 100% agreement with him on something. The stars are aligning correctly and the birds are singing.

All of this to say what a dumb fricking post by one of my LSU brethren.

to reply to the Dawg fan claiming LSU fans are clamoring a 4-3 defense some places and a 3-4 in others is unfortunately correct.

We landed a couple of stud LB's advertising a 3-4 and seem to be going after kids that want to play in a 4-3 as well.

Truth be told absolutely none of them know what we will be running because the coach doesn't absolutely know yet until all the recruits have landed so he can make an informed decision based on the talent we have until then.

Until then, we will just go for the best players, and it's not a stretch to tell them we will be running the one that they covet, for if they come it just might make it happen

LSU really set itself back with poor LB recruiting under Chavez and also attrition of the big DL guys who could have made LSU a legit 3/4 defense. But I would expect LSU continues to run an aggressive 4/3 defense with heavy reliance on nickel and dime packages because we have the best db depth in the country. I expect more blitz packages and unconventional rushing lanes by the DL on obvious passing downs.

Most importantly, LSU should be a REALLY fast defense with the best pair of DL's and the fastest linebackers we have had in years. With Orgeron and Steele there I expect us to get our swag back and sign quality and quantity on the front seven in a way we really haven't in several years.

There is no need to apologize for being optimistic about the future of the program. If people are annoyed that the very top-tier recruits are buying in again to LSU now that we have this new infusion of ENERGY , so be it. If Gary came to Baton Rouge it would make a lot of sense for him.

Be optimistic. Just don't shoot down other fans when they are as well. (Not aimed at anyone in particular)

Ok. But I have seen other LSU fans say just the opposite. The narrative seems to change depending on what the conversation is. Don't get me wrong, I've seen the same from almost all the fan bases. But I have seen it far more frequently from LSU fans. And, they seem quicker to call anyone who disagrees with them as idiots and claim they don't know anything about football.

I don't think anybody runs soley a 3-4. Anyway...I think it's way to early in the process to call Gary a lock for anyone.

I knew what he meant. I had read that Miles like to go to a "Mustang"(?) formation in passing situations. (I think it was called Mustang) Anyway...a 3-2-6 formation.
