Who is Jimmy Smith?
Does he have a source inside the Alabama complex?
Highly unlikely don't you think?
Jimmy is as connected as Sonny and Shea.

Dylan Moses - LSU.
I haven't been keeping up with him much since it started looking like his recruitment would be a roller coaster. How did we go from him leaving LSU out of multiple top school lists to Bama fans conceding him to LSU?

Don't think Ignont is a take for LSU.

Bama fans said Saban/staff backed off, said he's overated.

Guys, Moses was never going anywhere....he just wants to be rest assured that Miles will be his coach.

Miles could still be fired this year. He loses 3 games again with the talent he has and bye bye.

He might be, and right now you better pray it happens, only way he considers another school. Also Miles just has to win 10 games. Should have no problem doing that with this team

We did do a good job last year fighting them off instate. Hopefully it continues
I love our staff and we are signing elite classes, but Alabama still has the upper hand at the moment.
Until we move these battles over to the Alabama/Georgia top prospects it's still a W for Bama. They passed on ignot. Most of these players are LSUs to lose, and Texas is still more LSU territory. They arent listing their their top local players LSU is a big threat for...
We'll see if Farrell turns into something. Saw he had a Bama offer but not sure how hard they were after him
Kwon, who Bama passed on, is the last impact player I remember getting from Alabama. They have gotten Lacy, Collins, Williams, Robinson, and other elite La players in that time frame. Not to mention the Tony Browns and Trent Richardsons we had as "silent commits"
Steele, now Craig are helping us get our foot in the door.
Sometimes the best Defense is a good offense (recruiting wise). We need to take the fight to them

Alabama has had trouble recruiting Murphy High School at times.

How hard were y'all after him?

Never was a lot of mention after the spring. Definitely behind Ray and Johnson as far as in-state DL prospects.

When? Alabama got everyone we ever wanted out of Murphy I know of, Bill Condon, Keith McCants, and Willie Gaston. There have been other signees from Murphy, but they are the highlights. Murphy used to be one the two or three biggest schools in the state, but they have lost a lot of their student population and are just barely over half what they used to be in total students. They used to dominate Mobile, no longer. Looks like McGill-Toolen is the real power in Mobile now.

I think your examples sums of how long it has been since Alabama consistently signed any SEC talent from Murphy.

But other than Soloman Patton, there haven't been any top targets out of Murphy, their quality has gone way down. Who have we lost?
The biggest loss would be Captain Munnerlyn who played at USCe and is a NFL player with the Vikings, but we didn't even offer him.
Murphy doesn't dominate like they did in the 70's and 80's now because their talent is dispersed.

They still produce some SEC level talent. But in the 10 classes Nick Saban has signed, not one Murphy kid has signed inked with Alabama.

We will just have to disagree then, I know every player who has signed from Murphy, and Soloman Patton and Captain Munnerlyn are the only two who have signed with SEC schools since Saban has been at Alabama.

Looking back further, Alabama hasn't signed a Murphy kid since at least before 1999.

You won't believe me apparently, but Murphy quit producing players around 1990 when their school district was redrawn. A lot of the talent which used to go to Murphy has been spread to Williamson HS, Davidson HS, and LeFlore HS.
Plus St Paul's and McGill-Toolen have stepped up recruiting talent in Mobile which has robbed Murphy of quite a few players, including kids who will sign in the SEC this year and next.
Just as Vigor has been hurt by the new Saraland HS and the new Blount HS (new building in Eight Mile, old name of the high school though).
