In fairness, I saw several Alabama posters say they hoped he went elsewhere. Now if the football program felt the same way....who knows? Nobody but Saban knows for sure.

Of course Bama would have taken the highest rated back in the country.

I'm not faulting Kirby for taking a risk on Evans. Saban has selectively done it on others. He just chose not to with Evans. Best wishes to Zach.

First of all, Saban and his staff have no interest whatsoever in what the recruiting sites' ratings are for Evans or any other propects.
That’s kind of true. They’re always used as a good base to know who the bigger name prospects are, but obviously they’ll use their own evaluations.

You are full of it. If Evans commits to Bama they would take him in a heartbeat and you know it.

Not sure I entirely agree with that. Bama has had character concerns since back in the summer I think.
And it’s not like Evans has done a whole lot to alleviate those concerns.

A year ago I was hoping this kid would sign with the Ags. To be honest I’m glad that he didn’t. He has a whole shitload of issues. So far he has demonstrated he is willing to trash his team and coaches for his own ego driven attitude over a cell phone. In the state title game, no less. What happens if he thinks he is to good to be coached? He enters the portal? So what happens if he gets benched? He goes full Kapernick? If he is any good, Georgia is only going to get one good season before he leaves for the NFL. I find it somewhat revealing that Coach Obregon, Saban and Fisher don’t seem to be shedding any tears. I’m not sure his ability and potential are worth the potential damage he would do to the team.

What does this even mean? Do your coaches typically hold press conferences to publicly shed tears over recruits they missed on?

Alabama had been recruiting Evans since 2017 (Evans' 247 timeline) and even back then was aware of and concerned about his immaturity and behavior issues. Last summer, Bama's RB coach advised him that he needed to improve in that regard in order to commit to Bama. Instead of taking Huff's good advice, Evans reacted with an Instagram Live "Fvck Bama!" tantrum. Bama already had one RB commit, Roydell Williams, and took Kyle Edwards' commitment on Aug 23. After Evans' suspension for more tantrums, he visited UA with teammate Damieon George (UA commit) on Oct 19 (UA vs UT). Soon after, Bama stopped recruiting Evans, but continued to recruit George and OU RB commit Jase McClellan. They both signed with Bama on Wed. Perhaps Evans never fully had a green light to commit to Bama.

Last time A&M was the beneficiary of that, the player in question had to sit a year. (Kellen Heard sent an LOI to Miami, then backed out a week later)

It's not like he's trying to get to Harvard.
