Texas needs DL more than UGA does. UGA recruits high rated DL every year. Texas has to try harder this year.

It’s not sad when Georgia does it successfully though is it?

No. None of these are on an equal playing ground and they never have been.
We'll probably end up with a another division divide with the top 40 or so playing at the highest level and some lessers in the P4 playing in the lower division.
But if it becomes Ohio State, Texas, and another program or two dominating because they've got more money than everyone else, you all will be given rules to diminish your ability to do that. If you don't like it, you can form a four or five team league.

Who did Georgia outbid someone for?

How many Georgia DL went in the first round of the draft last year?
How many from Texas?
You can’t claim better career opportunities anymore.

No one they’ve just landed all those top classes without outbidding anyone

Pretty sure Texas has been mentioned as a threat to sign him since he visited in October. It didn’t come out nowhere, that’s for sure.
They've always been listed in his top four or five. But no one in the last few months had him above Auburn and Georgia and most felt Bama was more of a threat.
Then, just like with Downs, the recruiting coverage guys started saying they were hearing he got an enormous offer, much higher than what we were willing to pay. So that is why he is going there. I don't blame him. But let's not act like he thinks Sark and Bevo were on the same plain with Georgia if he was only getting a couple hundred grand more to go to Texas. It's a lot bigger than that. And that's what caused the change of mind.

I already said both programs are good, but Texas outbid in the last 36 hours. Something will probably change in the next few years so enjoy having “unlimited resources” as a few of you say.

The majority of our guys come at a lesser price than they could get somewhere else. I'm not telling you it's substantially less, but if someone wants to pay out the whazzoo and well over our soft cap, we let them go.
Bolden was offered more to go to FSU last year. He came to Georgia.
My guess is that we generally are not the highest monetary offer a player is getting if he's being recruited by you guys, Bama, FSU, Ohio St. etc.

UGA fans always spout this and the numbers don't back it up.
I guess KJ Bolden just had a last minute change of heart last year

KJ Bolden was 100% offered more to play for FSU and almost went. That’s probably the worst example you could use here bc he simply didn’t want to play for such a dumpster fire more than he wanted an extra 100k

What numbers do you have?
We are around fifth or less in the conference in total NIL. This from people who are giving seven figures to the NIL fund.
We offered KJ more than our initial offer after FSU bumped theirs up. It still wasn't what they offered him though.
The RB we lost to them a couple of days ago was a money issue. They were willing to pay him twice as much. We follow the NFL model and are not gonna pay a HS RB what we'd pay other positions that seem to be much more important when it comes to winning.

Texas isn’t either. Everyone knew we were an elite DT from being a championship roster in 2024. Yet Sark passed on every single transfer who visited in the Spring, asking for too much money. We took a couple of depth players for cheap and trusted in the development of the guys on our roster. We’re losing another pair of elite DTs after the season to the NFL. Texas probably figured it was cheaper to go after a high upside HS kid rather than break the bank for a portal starter.

Per all the Insiders at Rivals - these are UGA staff guys - he's been a silent commit for 14 months. UT simply threw too much money at him. Rumored to be $1 million a year.
It's going to be interesting to see a couple things:
1. If the House settlement clearing house concept, designed to get rid of pay for play will actually withstand legal challenge. I am skeptical.
2. Why would any top 10, top 25 player commit and sign before the 3rd day of ESD? Like Terry, you just wait everyone out and wait for one of the Texas schools, or Oregon, or UTjr, Miami, whichever, thrown crazy money at you.

We do pay well, but our collective majors on developing true NIL for kids over asking individual fans to foot the bill. To the tune of something like 400+ NIL deals signed by UT student athletes.

Well, this kid probably isn't gonna be able to help you next year or if he is, you won't be very strong there.
It takes a good year for them to get into the weight room and train at the college level to really make the kind of impact you need on a title contender.
