I’ve heard a lot about how unremarkable they are when talking about the program and how it detracts value, making things difficult for the coaching hire, but nothing really specific.

Anyone know more about this, or how it affects recruiting? Is it just a wow factor, or are these kids actually looking for specific things?

Thank you for you time and consideration.

Kids like shiny new things like updated locker rooms, IPF's and the like. I don't know FSU's situation but I've heard their stuff is not as up to date as some other programs. I believe UF is in a similar boat but they're raising money to take care of those issues.

When UGA didn't have an IPF it was used against them in recruiting.

The money that they could have used for facilities is now going to pay off Taggart and crew then the new coach and staff. Whoever the new coach is will want a lot of guaranteed money (+80%). That is all donor money.

On the AD side, they are hemorrhaging money at huge rate.

Whatever Florida State lacks in shiny buildings and amenities they more than make up for in co-eds.

There is talent at every campus in the southeast. Girls you'd be happy to introduce to your mother.

Florida State has better talent, more talent, and you wouldn't want them in the same neighborhood as your mother. What's more appealing to an 18 year old? If any of you youngsters are reading this and have the opportunity to visit Tallahassee or are considering them to further your education, I would certainly advise it. Just be smart and wrap up your ding dong

FSU has talent but with the sheer numbers you can find fine arse girls at pretty much every school. I bet UCF honestly has more talent than FSU.

no doubt, FSU girls outnumber guys by a fair margin though and many are the put out on the first date type. They're trashy hot basically, which appeals to a young lad.

I wouldn't bet for or against this. They're drawing from the same areas and UCF is a huge school.

They don't have a football-only facility. They're getting a 60 M one in 2021, but they're well behind most of their peers.

Stadium and fan support are fairly mediocre as well for such a historic program.

That constant fight for new facilities is one of the many reasons Jimbo left.

quote:

"My view of Jimbo was he wanted to model things after Nick Saban and the SEC and Alabama," Thrasher said Thursday in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm OK with that to a point but I'm also not going to put Florida State at risk in terms of debt and the responsibility to other programs. Him and I had an understanding about that."

They may have at one point, but Fisher has since made it clear there was a disconnect between them.

He jabbed at his former bosses during his introductory news conference at Texas A&M on Dec. 4, talking about the lack of progress to build a larger football complex. "You can have the greatest coaches in the world, but if your administration doesn't see things the way you see things and allow you to do things that way, nothing can be achieved," Fisher said.

Most people believe they lost Jimbo because they wouldn’t commit money to his staff or facilities. Here 2 years later and they’re gonna spend that money buying out Taggart.

It's not the FSU co-eds that play a major role in this particular slice of student experience, it's those at Florida A&M, an HBCU also in Tallahassee with 65+% female enrollment.

Every major FBS school has plenty of Megans and Emilys. Not many have an entire school full of Nias and Janelles right across the street.

I always feel a little bad when we beat Prairie View A&M in sports because they are "family"...although I'd feel much worse if we lost.

I can respect that b/c a program like Nebraska will always need to spend $$$ in order to compete at top level, when compared to USC or FSU who states are loaded with talent. Letting Jimbo wasn't a mistake, hiring Willie was b/c his resume wasn't outstanding to begin with. If the talent pool is shallow, best thing an AD can do is just promote the assistant coach to hc on the cheap and see how things turn out. Worked for LSU, Clemson, and Oregon.

A few years ago a friend of mine who taught undergrads at FSU was showing me around and he drove me by the football stadium.

Apparently, and this was his take on it, a few years before both the football program and the psychology department were looking for facility upgrades. The president at the time decided to combine their efforts and build a facility attached to the stadium that was to be used by both, I believe labeled as a Sports Psychology department. Well, like a lot of decision intended to make everyone happy this one ended up making nobody happy, not only upsetting the football team but even the academics of the group. The problem was made worse and FSU has struggled to raise the funds needed to keep up with competition, even based on that single decision made by a President years ago.
