To my knowledge, none of the Florida beats have claimed he had a leader, just that UF coaches feel confident. As I said, the family is being very deliberate and aren't talking.

Fair enough.

I would be shocked if he goes yo OSU....but not UGA or Florida.

I just take offense to the recruiting media's outright fake info and the speed with which it spreads.
I can understand that, too.

Kipp Adams crystal balled Elam to Florida. Anything from the UGA insiders on why?

Probably Mel Tucker leaving.

I figured, but that seems like an awful quick crystal ball flip from a Georgia insider. I’m probably reading too far into it, but I thought it was strange. Hopefully he’s right and Elam makes the right move.

haven't heard anything. I'll keep an ear out and see if anything comes up, but right now I haven't heard anything.

1. Any time an insider from another team CB's him away from his team and towards yours it is a good thing.
2. If Kipp Adams is right, how could that be the right move?

He’s choosing between two pretty good options right now

This. Key will be UGA getting Elam to hold off on committing or signing until we hire a new DB coach. I would expect us to promote Glenn Schumann to DC so that question should be answered in short order but obviously in this case a position coach hire is key

Yes, he is. I am reading now, that losing Tucker could hurt with Elam, now. I hope not. Elam is really good and either team would be lucky to have him.

Tucker was Elam’s Lead recruiter, but Kirby took over a few weeks ago.

Obviously Florida is a great option for him for a number of reasons, but it is notable that Georgia was the leader prior to coaching change.

I would say watch what Georgia does in terms of backfilling Tucker. My guess is that if the new DB hire clicks with Elam and fan, he is a Dawg. If not, Gator.

Maybe so. Florida is under new leadership though and isn’t a pushover on the trail anymore. I think this is a big boy battle that Florida should win, especially with UGA’s coaching turnover. It’ll be interesting. I’ll be irritated if Florida misses on a guy like this. Unless they can bring in Steele and Banks, it’ll be a disappointing miss.

I’m not meaning to insult Florida’s recruiting at all. Apologies if it came off that way.

Georgia has been the leader in the clubhouse for a little while. The coaching change is a window of opportunity for Florida and Florida has some natural advantages to exploit. Would certainly be a big win on the trail for Florida at a position of need.

As I said, watch closely how UGA replenishes staff. I would actually feel Florida had a better shot here if Elam was an early enrollee, but the fact that he is taking it to February NSD allows time for a new hire to connect in addition to Kirby’s lead recruiting.

Elam fills a “best available” role for UGA right now, so if we lose out to Florida I expect the spot to be filled with a different position.

UF should win with the family connection and now our coaching change.

It will be hard to overcome the family connection and losing Tucker. I will wait and see who Kirby hires to coach DBs. Some of the names I've heard would be big names to recruits.

Like NCDawg said, the fact that Elam is not an EE helps the Dawgs. Sounds like Kirby may wait until after Bowl game to backfill the DC/Secondary coaching position.

I know one guy that is getting some run is Defensive Back coach from Oakland Raiders- Derrick Ansley. He held the Secondary Coach position for Bama last year and is a demon on recruiting trail.

If UGA brought in Ansley and made him Co-DC with Schumann, I believe that could give us momentum with Elam.

Long way to go until February. No point in anyone getting too excited about him just yet.

Why bump? Did something happen?

Florida is getting an official from Tyrique Stevenson this weekend out of nowhere. How do Georgia fans feel there? He was committed to UF at one point under Mac but didn’t show interest in the new staff prior to this.

UGA fans, we want Elam but not too worried about him just yet. We feel like UF is leading and if Elam announced today it would probably be you guys since Tucker left.

We have seven weeks if Elam takes it to the end though and that’s an eternity! Kirby closes like a freight train.
