So you were trolling?
No. I'm serious. I have a good track record with CBs. Not perfect, and I'm certainly not certified for anyone to care about my opinion. Nor do I care if they care. I'm simply giving it.

He is a polished CB going into his SR year with elite size. Brown and Hump were not polished. Brown didn't/doesn't have elite size. Hump had size/speed, but meh technique. Very high ceiling kid.
That's fine.

quote:Alabama is not a hot spot for LSU. LSU offers a few players from Alabama, but don't extend offers to everyone as Saban does to Louisiana recruits. Saban has recruited the entire state of Louisiana before and understands the landscape.
And lets not act like LSU can come into Alabama and take top guys the way Saban does in LA.

going into Texas just makes more sense for us

This is really the difference along with the connections to LA high schools that Saban and Burns have. If LSU had a couple coaches with good connections to Alabama, we'd see LSU dipping into Alabama more often

We don't really recruit Alabama. If we did we'd probably pull a prospect here or there that y'all wanted. I doubt it would be often, unless we had a coach with good connections to high schools in Alabama. I'm fine with our staff not going into Alabama, would be too hard to take kids from y'all and AU.
This is one of the dimer quotes I have ever read.... nearly EVERY school in the SEC will go across the country to pull a player they want. You don't think LSU will try and go into Bama and pull someone out that they want?

I like when you said Belue would be a 1st rounder

It's kind of disingenuous to compare LSU's recruiting of Bama to Bama's recruiting of LA.

LSU offers the top prospects in Alabama, sure. And if the kid shows interest in LSU they'll pursue him, but that rarely happens. So the staff doesn't see a point in going after Alabama kids hard because they know they're more than likely staying in Alabama.

Ouch. Yea earlier in the year I was trying to tell people that if we had a legit shut down CB like Dre K or Dee Milliner we would be in a strong position for a NC. I was telling them that Belue was really CB3 that could maybe play cb2 on some other sec teams but its far from shutdown. I had some arguments about it but was proven correct when he went undrafted. (I did think he would be drafted though late).
After Belue our CBs got even worse. Its really amazing we did as well as we did with such a poor CB group. We should be fairly decent at CB this year and should be dominant once again in 2015 at CB. Eddie Jackson, Tony Brown, and Humph all have great skills with Geno Smith showing he can ball a bit too. Plus our depth will be even better than in 2013. We had a bad year this year but things are really looking up for the Tide the next 2 years.

I love how LSU lets us get in on guys that they end up wanting eventually.

What people in this thread don't understand is that the talent in south LA is much better than Alabama. LSU can still be a good team with 75-85% of recruits coming from in-state. When you go to Alabama to chase a kid you're competeing against Bama and AU. Not to mention it's just not as talent rich as LA. It makes sense that Bama would be in LA more than LSU would be in Alabama.

That may be true. But IMO south LA talent is comparable to South Florida talent.
