Just read Wally Halls editorial today In the Arkansas Dem-Gazette about Saban giving this kid a scholarship. Class act

Has to be at least the 4th thread discussing this very same thing.

My bad. Just read story today for the first time and didn't see any other posts on it. Still a class act.

I wonder what everyone's tune is gonna be when Saban processes him and he's playing DT at South Alabama in 2 years.
Really happy for Shaw either way though... Hope he heals up... His junior year film is fun to watch.

He's not expected to play football, he got a medical hardship scholarship.
Saban is doing it to make himself look good and build favor at a football factory in GA, however the kid is still getting a free ride to school so it's a win-win.
I don't think saban is some saint for doing it but it is a very shrewd move on his part for sure.

He will never play for us

It's pretty easy to read between the lines on this one. Kid got a cervical spine injury in the neck. If he get's hit the same way again he would likely be paralyzed. He done.
I wonder what happens when his one year medical redshirt sholly runs out though?

Medical Scholarships are for 4 years. Terrible troll attempt.

He's getting a medical hardship, not a medical redshirt. He's getting 4 or 5 years of schooling paid for.

Medical redshirt =/= medical exemption

I wasn't trying to troll. When I troll it's much better than that.
I honestly don't know. I was pretty sure the article I read said he was given a one year medical redshirt sholorship. Plus redshirts are only allowed for a max of two years.
Seems they would have to convert it to something else. Not saying they wouldn't

You haven't read the 4 threads of Bama fans bragging and looking for kudos?

I apologize then. He will be on a medical scholarship. He gets a free education, but will not be able to play for us. He will work for the team though.

Shaw goes to Tucker HS. Saban would have to be an idiot to rustle those jimmies

Like all the other schools that pulled his offer?
you are correct. As a bonus, I believe Tucker has a couple studs considering Bama 2015.

Wonder why a Georgua school did not offer the kid this ?
Saban does like to make himself and his school look good. He is also a very charitable person.
