Does UT have a shot at Bell or Lawson?

Saw where Bell said UT was now even with Bama, and some crazy UT fan said they were leading for Lawson. Anyone think they land one of these guys?

I think they have more than a chance to land Lawson

Lawson
Seems like a coin flip between UT and AU.

My gut tells me Lawson will end up at UT... his budy Ryan Jenkins is committed, he doesn't have the best relationship with Rodney Garner (though daddy lawson says it's improving), we're getting no love from his teammate petyon barber, etc...

hope i'm wrong.

Bama has had a pretty significant lead for sometime. There was a lot of speculation of him committing to Bama once his season ended last month but that didn't happen. Took his official visit to Bama last weekend. Had an in-home visit by several UT coaches a couple days ago and will take his official to Knoxville this weekend. Grew up a Tennessee fan but has longer relationship with Bama's coaches. I think most experts are picking him to Bama but Tennessee is making a late charge.

Confused as well. But I heard his mama is a UT grad or went there. Doesnt make much sense to me since UT has a completely new staff just like us.

For me, it's a lot of little things... his HS coach doesn't care for Auburn (for whatever reason), even mentioning the Lawson didn't consider himself an AU commit (which aligns with what the trainer said about Lawson silently decommitting a few weeks ago)... the lack of a relationship with Garner... the familiarity with a couple of former AU defensive coaches... Ryan Jenkins...

Justin Hokanson said he has news today that is positive for Auburn regarding Lawson. Lawson's family has talked about not wanting to put any team in too much of a bind too, they are just evaluating their options.

I just don't see why they wouldn't decommit to open it up. Not like AU wouldn't keep a spot if he told us he was still interested still evaluating.

That trainer has talked a lot about Lawson and what he is going to do and to date not a single thing has been confirmed. Also, the Lawson's are pretty silent about where he is leaning, no way they tell the trainer who sprints to message boards to tell UT fans

Lawson has publicly said that is incorrect FWIW. Guy is either a douche and hates AU or he speaks the truth. Who knows

I'd say Lawson is 50:50 at this point, I think UT is the favorite right now but the visit to AU next weekend could seal the deal either way really.

As for Bell, VN has been delusional about him since CBJ started talking to him. I'd say UTs chances are no higher than 15% right now. He played frickin CoD the entire in home visit when we brought our entire staff. Maybe he's blown away with his visit this weekend but I'm not holding my breath.

I think this is pretty accurate. If we nail this last visit I think we can lock him down but it really is 50:50 between AU and UT.

I will be disappointed if we lose him but I will still cheer for him at UT considering how well he has handled this process IMO

Bell needs a lot of developement. He is better off going to Bama. He can be the next overhype CB to come out of Bama and bust in the NFL.

Overhyped or not, we've got a bunch of DBs in the NFL making a lot of money.

Such as?
* Mark Barron plays Safety and made all rookie team. He started all year.
* Dre Kirkpatrick was injured all year. That doesn't make him a bust (see Ben Tate - good player who was injured early in his NFL career).
* Javier Arenas starts for the Chiefs D and plays in their return game.
* Kareem Jackson has started since day one in the NFL. He had growing pains as a rookie, but has been very good since.

Who am I missing?

bell I think might be a slight bama lead, but he is playing it really close. really the only analyst out there calling anything is mike farrell on rivals, and he says bell is perhaps only a slight bama lead. I think its going to come down to signing day.

bell does need some time with a training program, for sure, but he has some ball skills and isn't afraid to hit. he might be better off at safety, but I hear Saban likes him at corner. who knows.

I watched every Cincy game this year, and Dread Head Dre played in a couple of games, (limited I'll give you). Left alot to be desired. Hopefully he doesn't take three years to become an average player like his fat arse buddy at right tackle, one mister Andre Smith.

Lawson is ALL Auburn. Anyone UT fan that thinks it is 50/50 or UT leads is an idiot.
