You'd be hard pressed to say LSU closed stronger than UF and UCLA. I mean, regarding UF though...they really only could go up from where they were

I haven't looked at a single service rankings in a year. I couldn't even tell you who was the #1 player this year. I went off articles I saw on 24/7.

Not really. Everyone should have known that they'd be able to pull some kids late given their status and the fact that the new coaching staff can pump early playing time with ease. Their "jump" in team ranking wasn't even that impressive considering that every school after about #25 is just filled with 3-star guys anyways, thus landing a 5-star or two, and a 4star or two would immediately vault them past the majority of those schools.

The reality is that they got worked hard by Muschamp/T-Rob; even on instate guys like Javarius Davis and Ryan Davis who I'd assume they'd ultimately land because they could be "major signings" at Florida yet instead chose to be "just guys" in Auburn's considerably deeper class. Both guys weren't even full takes at Auburn until late. Mike Horton left them to be the #5 OL in Auburn's class. Pulling Jefferson was nice, but they don't get much credit for holding Ivey who was going there regardless, and after that who did they really get? D'Anfernee McGriff who's only there because he's not likely to qualify and who Auburn told to go look elsewhere?

I actually expected much more out of Florida. I assumed McElwain would be able to sell the "immediate rebuilding opportunity" at an elite school like Florida but it looks like his relative un-sexiness really hurt their recruiting. The guy is hardly a household name, and to add to that he doesn't even really come off as "cool" or anything either (which can draw recruit attention).

Florida closed the strongest in the sec. USC overall. Auburn killed it today. Ole miss closed the weakest.

All of this. And yes I'm saying this as an LSU fan. Still pumped for our own class though.

We know Chavis leaving kept us from getting Philips or Mack.

Oh well. I like our class and we did close strong, but Florida made the most improvements on signing day.

UCLA jumped up 12 spots in a day, they win.

I thought we were done for at least two seasons before today.

After today, it's not so bad, especially with how the recruits are talking.

Moving up ~80 spots and more than doubling our recruits in the last few weeks has been pretty insane.

I'm not taking anything away from the gators, I'm not. They closed strong. Damn impressive.

But once you get to around 20 it gets significantly harder to jump people because that's when 4 and 5 stars start being more common.

I would have to throw Auburns name in there.

Cowart
Holland (even though I think he is overrated and dumb)
Slayton

Those 3 alone make for a pretty strong close.
