Because message board trash talk is about the only thing they have going on in their lives. Stepping beyond that into more nuanced discussion causes headaches and confused feelings.

I think Brian Kelley is going to be alien to most of the current kids in play but might be a swing factor for kids wanting to play at LSU and needing a stable backdrop.

It is usually a big mistake to assume high school athletes have the same inane passion for a certain football program.

Will be interesting to see if Kelly can prove his rep wrong as a guy who isn't a hands on recruiter. He's got basically 2 weeks and a Class currently at 15 and 6th in the SEC. He's going to need to hit some living rooms hard and build some momentum quickly. He's got some excitement to sell but change works both ways, it will excite some kids to want to be a part of something new but it will scare others off who see it may be a rebuild. Since most of the elite recruits are only looking at a 3 year commitment in their minds and want to win now that will be a challenge.

Kelly needs to come out hard and fast with a good story to tell.

Actually in the broader historical context folks have raided Louisiana consistently. It's really just been the last 20 years they have kept them home for obvious reasons.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if LSU's already shaky class completely falls apart as a result of Kelly's unenthusiastic recruiting. Not trolling.

You literally just lost your RB commit who is the #8 player in LA and lost out on Moss who is #5. You are going to be very lucky to get the #2 player. All good.
