Class of the Commonwealth - 2016

Kentucky produces the least amount of homegrown talent in the SEC. Recently, however, there have been a few notable exceptions to this truism.
In 2013, 4* DE/OLB Jason Hatcher flipped from USCw to UK on signing day. WR Ryan Timmons saw some interest late in the cycle from Ohio State and Florida.
In 2014, 4* QB Drew Barker drew some attention from SCAR and other programs. 4* DT/NG Matt Elam chose from Bama and UK on signing day.
In 2015, of course, Bama stole away 5* RB Damien Harris. UK did manage to hold on to 4* LB and Army All-American Eli Brown.
2016 may be Kentucky's biggest crop of talented players in quite some time.
4* C/OG Drake Jackson - Kentucky commit
Jackson is a high-floor guy who doesn't necessarily have optimal size. At 6'2 288, his biggest asset is his incredible technique and a nasty streak on the field. Has been a top performer at every camp he has attended
4* OT Landon Young - Kentucky commit
Young is blowing up right now on the recruiting scene. Recent offers from Auburn and Ohio State came after impressive camp performances. At 6'7 295, he's prototypical. He committed to UK back in 2014.
4* LB Kash Daniel - Kentucky, SCAR, Lousville, (Florida)
Daniel went to the Charlotte Rivals camp and was really impressive. At 6'3 230, he's got size and plenty of athleticism. This guy is not a lock for UK and, pending a Florida offer, is looking to commit in August.
3* CB Davonte Robinson - Kentucky commit
Robinson is a virtually unknown track guy with very impressive speed. He added a Notre Dame offer after committing to Kentucky and would have many, many more if he were going to any regional camps.
3* WR Zy'Aire Hughes - Kentucky commit
Hughes plays QB and part-time WR for his high school team. He's a good athlete but will need some work at WR to really shine. At 6'1 180, he can play outside or in the slot.
3* WR Keion Wakefield - Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana
Wakefield is apparently still a take. At 5'10 170, he's a pure slot guy but has a lot of speed and is very polished in his route-running. He's been adamant about waiting for his "dream" offers from Oregon or Alabama, but neither seem to be forthcoming. Although he's got talent, he could easily be left without a spot at UK if another target pulls the trigger first (i.e., Eddie McDoom).
3 4* players in the state of Kentucky at one time is virtually unheard of.

Except in 2013 when you guys only landed one of the five.
Edit:
and 2011 when you landed 1 of the 3.
and 2008 when you landed 2 of the 3
and 2005 when you landed 0 of the 3

The official, Know your place in recruiting statement.
If only this were basketball.

In 05, OL Zirbel (Mich), DT McKinney (Mich), DE Heyman (UL)
In 08, WR Boyd (UK), DT Newman (ND)
In 11, LB Dawson (USCw), QB Smith (UCF)
In 13, WR Quick (UL), OL Biven (ND), DE Hatcher (UK)
Which site are you using that shows 5 in 2013? Neither 247 or Rivals shows that many.
And the point still stands, the fact that Kentucky produces 3 4* players in the same class three times in 10 years means its a pretty rare occurrence.
As you pointed out, Kentucky is doing a better job recently (outside of Harris) of keeping in-state players in the state.

I willingly admit that Harris being at Bama annoyed me when I read it (again, in a magazine) the other day. I'm still a little rustled.

They were pissed over Harris. The basketball analogy didn't seem to help at the time. Even considering Kentucky had recently taken some top basketball talent out of Alabama.

My issue wasn't with Harris going to Bama itself. It was when he dropped the "I've known for weeks" line but played Stoops and Co. pretty hard right up to his commitment as he hadn't.

Pretty excited for this kid too. We need a good anchor on that line and from all accounts he can be that.

Thread title sounds like the list of names Queen Elizabeth II is about to knight and induct into the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
I love it.

FWIW, Bama coaches are pretty high on Landon Young. They might shut it down if able to flip Greg Little. But if not, Young and Jauan Williams are good bets for Bama to go after hard. I know Cristobal supposedly is real high on Young.

While I would much prefer they didn't turn up the heat, I think we can hang on to Young. He's a lexington kid and has been committed since like his freshman year or something. Not saying Bama couldn't do it, just saying it'd be an uphill battle.

Young just announced on Twitter that he is 100% solid to Kentucky and won't be taking any more visits.
Big, big recruiting win for Coach Stoops.
It should also help with 2017 OT Jedrick Wills who has been blowing up the Rivals circuit this summer. Wills is Young's teammate at Lafayette.
Might also have some impact on Kash Daniel.

Both Young and Jackson put out some pretty strong statements yesterday. Would LOVE to add Kash and Wills.
As an aside, I think I accidentally found you on Twitter due to KSR's post about Landon/FFA.

Yikes, I'm not a big KSR fan so I didn't even realize that it was posted there.

That boy was a Hoss. He was in my region and a grade ahead of me. I've always felt Tilghman, Mayfield, and Murray are under recruited. Just too far away from most schools to get noticed.
