Good get. Keep SEC strong . Wish he had picked LSU but can’t win them all.

I remember back when #1 centers on 247 ranked as 3* idk why maybe not as talented as now but I def remember
Value being appreciated now they had been underrated for a while and their crucial to a OL

Barrett Jones signed with Alabama in 2008. He was a borderline 5 star and #1 ranked center.

Has Bama ever had a highly legacy recruit who decided to go elsewhere before?

I don't think he was highly recruited, but Cornelius Bennett's son LINK signed with Tennessee back in 2016, I believe. I know he supports his son, but it's hard to see Biscuit wear orange.
Cornelius Bennett (Biscuit) is one of Bama's legends. Bennett starred at Alabama as a three-time All-American selection, and he garnered SEC Player of the Year Honors and brought home the Lombardi Award as the nation's best player regardless of position.
He was the 2nd overall pick in the 1987 NFL Draft.
His pro career was very successful, he finished with five Pro Bowl Selections, three first-team All-Pro Selections, and was twice named the AFC Defensive Player of the Year.

Reggie Grimes’ kid signed with Oklahoma in the 2020 class. Alabama never really recruited him that heavily though.

Especially considering their dad & granddad played there, and their older brother is currently there. That is definitely not a good look for the UT football program.
But when Saban has the record he does for sending OL to the NFL, it's hard to turn that down.
Most Texas writers had told the fans to be ready for this over the last few months.
From what I would read, the Brockermeyers weren't super into the recruiting process and wanted to make a decision and be down with it. And their biggest criteria was path to the NFL, so when it came down to Bama and Texas, that seemed kind of like a no-brainer decision.
It'll be interesting to see them (at least for sure tommy, he's a stud) line up against Texas in 2022/23
