I can't help it. It rustles to the core.

A&M hasn't been on par with UT in several years now. It is a fairly accepted view in academia at this point. Your argument/view on ROI has pretty much no real bearing on the discussion of what is considered a better academic university. If we followed your logic a school that only have a business and engineering school would always be a better school, just due to starting salaries.
Additionally, holding onto the notion that A&M is Tier 1 opens you up for the argument that UH is also considered that by the state. Are you saying then that you are equitable to Cougar High? I doubt that is the case you are trying to make. What is your view on the likelihood that A&M will be losing their AAU status in the next 3 years? Would you then accept that A&M is no longer on par with UT?
Like any other Aggie, you are just parroting what you are told and have not been willing to actually dig a little into the information they spoon feeding you.

Not the best and brightest.

Texas and it isn't even close. A&M is just riding the hype machine right now and things will be back to normal in the state of Texas in the near future.

True. But a chip on the shoulder can be a good thing.

The differences are negligible, even by the subjective, often arbitrary measures of the USNWR.

Just because Texas offers a wider array of worthless degrees, it doesn't follow that the ROI argument is without merit.

Why waste time fretting about events that won't transpire?

And like any other horn, you parse words in an effort to push a narrative that Texas is infinitely superior. The result is the always the same: a trite list of points packed with hubris and latent insecurity.

I think Strong is the better coach ultimately. He'll turn it around at Texas pretty quickly and when Texas is very good, they get to compete for national championships. They're one of the media darling schools that will get the nod over most other schools with comparable records. Even with Manziel, the hype has been mostly about Manziel and not so much A&M. When Texas is good again, it will negatively affect A&m's recruiting in a big way. Texas has a much easier path than A&M to winning their conference which will keep them in the spotlight more as well.

Congratulations.
Bama, the school boasting the best coach in history and three of the last five national championships, has just passed poor aggy in the rankings.
You must feel vindicated.

I feel pretty good. I know it was awesome being in first for a little but order will always be restored. Thanks for keeping 1 warm for us.

You do understand when those comments were made, a&m was #1 right? And you do know when it was pointed out that a&m was #1, bama posters said "LOL April recruiting rankings"
So now.......

ATM fans: OMGZZZ!!! We're #1 in recruiting in April. Who is going to compete with us for the top class?!!!! Shouldn't have to stoop to Tennessee standards that celebrate any victory however temporary it may be.

Bama fans: Oh, we're ranked #______ (insert number 1-10) ___ months before signing day? Not worried. Only a matter of time before we retake the top spot.
That is the difference between the programs.
Back to the question. If I were a recruit I would be Austin bound. The "traditions" at ATM are creepy as frick. Yes, Strong has taken over a dumpster fire, but give it a few years and he will have the program turned around.
