UGA quickly becoming Auburn for the same reasons UGA fan used to prod Auburn fans for. Pretty funny to watch this happen. Coming full circle. Desperate times call for desperate measures I suppose.

We are Auburn for potentially taking the best TE in America? Are you retarded?

Auburn took a lot of kids that failed at other programs. Never really works out. Kirby too busy stargazing rather than actually recruiting good guys for a program. That’s not how you win. Ill just be sitting here waiting for 42 years...

Tech would shite themselves to get one guy like Gilbert and if he even mentioned going there that blowhard Collins would be blowing whatever he had to in order to close the deal. UGA continues to give more away than they take, like Cox when he was a behavior problem or Fields when they are impatient. .

And it’s not Auburn that takes the behavior problems, it’s Florida.

If he goes to UGA he won't be able to play until 2022. His GPA is literally 0.

LSU was able to get a waiver that if he passed a required amount of credits this summer he could play.

If he wants to play in 2021 it's LSU or Juco. That said he's most likely not staying at LSU at this point according to this close to the program.

Auburn has taken their share over the years. (Cam Newton and Nick Marshall were both kicked off their teams for stealing) In their defense, however, both players stayed out of trouble while at Auburn, so sometimes it works out well and kids get things worked out.

I have to say I am a little leery of Kendrick and Gilbert. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. But that said, GT and LSU would take either player if the player wanted to go there and any fan that says otherwise is kidding themselves. I'll believe they both go to UGA when they are enrolled, but at the moment it looks promising.

You do know that he ahs been taking online courses for awhile, right? Why don't we just wait and see if they got to Georgia first, before making blanket pronouncements when we really have no idea what we are talking about. It was just a week or so ago that LSU fans were absolutely positive that Gilbert would be back at LSU and playing this fall in spite of his GPA being "literally 0."

So LSU gets players qualified that have a 0 GPA? How does that work? Failed every class yet is still eligible?

What I just told you comes from someone with lots of access to the program. It's true. It's why Shea Dixon from 24/7 said publicly if he plays this year it will be with LSU or nobody. It comes down to the waiver. With that said somebody very important from Gilbert's family doesn't want him at LSU.

It’s no secret his mom doesn’t want him at LSU. We’ve got multiple reports stating that he’s moving into UGA this week, possibly today. Whether he plays this Fall or not remains to be seen but at the end of the day no reporter has actually been able to see his academic situation with their own eyes and no official from LSU is allowed to nor would they discuss academic specifics with the media. My guess is he applied for a hardship waiver for last Fall which helped wipe the slate clean in a way and now he just had to repair whatever damage he did in Spring over Summer

Here is something from Rusty mansell, one of the more accurate and consitent writers that covers Georgia football:

Now the next one, is no question Arik Gilbert and what are his plans moving forward? From everything I know, and I have not talked to him in months, I am hearing he has been in school online and he is on a path to be eligible to play this season somewhere. LSU is no doubt making a huge play to him to come back. One source that is pretty connected , called me on Monday evening and told me “I think he is going to end up at Georgia.” So I immediately spent most of the day on the phone yesterday checking on that. This sounds like it is getting very interesting here… I am not ready to make that call, but I can tell you that source is STRONG and he has no dog in this fight at all, so coming from him, I took it serious from then on. I will see what else I hear going into this weekend.

I italicized a portion myself that seems to refute what you have heard.

Hey. I don't know what is going on. Nobody does. But there is no way LSU can have a player that failed all of his classes on the team. I try to leave out the hyperbole and just go with as little emotion as possible. I have my doubts about Gilbert because of all the problems he has had. But take out all of the speculation (He is bi-polar, he is a cancer in the clubhouse, he has a zero GPA, etc) and go with what is known and not what is speculated.

This is simply not true. In fact shes been the one pushing him to go back to LSU. It's other people around him looking for another way (his older brother supposedly for starters looking for handouts).

S/S/B over at 247 have stated a few times his mother coming with him to LSU to talk to coaches and set up a plan for return and whatnot. She is helping, not hurting our situation. You're hearing wrong wherever your info is coming from. She is not working against us here at all, if she was, she wouldnt keep returning to LSU with him to talk to people. Our coaches talk to her and Arik on a daily basis, and that's straight from Mansell.

Unfortunately for Arik, a kid with some clear mental issues, has people around him steering him all sorts of directions.

This really shouldn't be reported on a public forum. I mean "clear mental issues"? based upon what? It seems to be based on a 19 year old kid that has a difficult time making up his mind and changes it a lot. That is something we have all gone through as teenagers in our lives. Shoot, when I was a teenager I had 2-3 girls that I KNEW would be my wife.....until I met another girl the next week.

Indecision does not equal "clear mental issues".

Have you been living under a rock?

It's been widely reported he had some major stuff he was dealing with which was what led to him quitting mid-season last year. Our mods and many others have said he has personal issues/things he's been having to tackle all this time. It's not a secret at all.

This isnt about indecision, he definitely has issues/demons he's been dealing with for a while now and it's no secret by any shape of the imagination. Dude is a really quiet kid who doesnt say much, but he has stuff going on he's been trying to work on. Nobody has said exactly what it is, as that would be way TMI, but there is zero doubt the kid is working through things. Why else do think his season ended so abruptly and his mom had to come running over to Baton Rouge to help him out?
