His numbers will probably increase a bit. Maybe something like 12/10/4 and 2 blocks

Wait you think his numbers will increase coming from yale? That's generally not how these mid major transfers work out, specifically ones who have already played a lot. Usually these end up more like Nate Sestina, numbers drop some playing much tougher competition.

I mean his numbers against P5 in 10 games the last 2 years (avg 11pts 9reb) are better than his numbers vs the Ivy League.

Including big games against North Carolina(17pts/15reb), Clemson(10pts/13rebs)and LSU in the NCAAt(16pts/9rebs)

Getting up for a few big games over the course of an entire season is easier than doing it on a weekly basis. Just dont see all the hype surrounding a 6'9 guy who averaged 10 points and less than 2 offensive boards playing mostly inferior competition. 1.5blocks per game but again a 6'9 athlete playing in Ivy league. I think the big thing about him is being a good ball handler/distributor for but nothing else really stands out. He's not much a scorer and offensive rebounding is meh for a 6'9 guy in the ivy league. Just dont see why some of you are hyping him up to be all sec caliber. Not to say he isnt improving your roster, but the hype is already a little out of control here. Mid major transfers like this usually dont turn into big time players at big schools. Again look at the numbers drop for a guy like Nate sestina.

The players who averaged double-digit rebounds over a single season this previous decade:

'11-12 Arnett Moultrie -- 10.5 RPG
'11-12 Anthony Davis -- 10.4 RPG
'13-14 Jarnell Stokes -- 10.6 RPG
'13-14 Julius Randle -- 10.4 RPG
'15-16 Ben Simmons -- 11.8 RPG
'16-17 Sebastian Saiz -- 11.4 RPG
'19-20 Reggie Perry -- 10.1 RPG

That's seven in ten years. Bruner will be one of the better rebounders Bama has had recently but setting a 10-rebound expectation for him... Silly.

No doubt he's a good player. His ability to run the court and shoot and handle a bit will be perfect for Oats' system.

Everyone has good highlights, I could show you highlights for Marlon taylor to make you think hes a future nba all star

Point is I wouldn't put stupid high expectations on a kid who averted 10 points and 1.8 offenisve boards in the IVy league. His specialty for his size is being good with the ball but again nothing else really stands out.

Go watch the 2nd half of his game vs y’all....the kid played out of his mind.

All I know he is better than what we had this year. We got Outrebounded by UNC by 30+ and he owned UNC on the boards

Plus who cares about total rebounds, anyone can live around the rim and grab defensive boards, rebounding ability should be judged on how you give your team extra chances on offenisve glass.

I'd take a guy who averaged 8 boards a game but 3 offensive vs. A guy who averages 10 a game and only 1.8 offensive.

I remember the game, honestly dont remember him think he made some late 3s when game was mostly decided. We spent all our defensive effort on Oni that game and some other yale player went for 24. Highly doubt hes an all SEC player next season. I think hes better than what you have which obviously is always good to be excited about.

Yea, that's all that really matters. His presence will allow us to run the entire offense, something we could not do with our roster makeup last year.

Tennessee has Fulkerson and Pons. Bama can promise Bruner a big starring frontcourt role. Tennessee can't.

Tennessee is likely going to sign another big based on reports but a HS big does make more sense based on Fulkerson, Pons and Anosike all being seniors. There are some rumblings of Pons going pro (likely overseas for a year) that would make a grad transfer make more sense.

I wasnt saying Bruner was going to become Reggie Perry or Grant Williams just that he is a guy Tennessee recruited hard out of HS and produced at a lower level, so was a little surprised they didn’t even reach out.

I certainly wouldn’t take him over Fulkerson but I believe he entered the portal before Anosike announced.

You also have to look at what the team is trying to do as a whole. Obviously some teams put more focus on crashing the board on the offensive side.

He played with one of the best players in the Ivy league, if not the best and had 18 less offensive rebounds in 50 less minutes. Yale as a team was really poor in offensive rebounding as well. He is also going to be in less position as a whole to offensive rebound with the style he plays, almost 100 3pt attempts.

Huge pick up when you talk about style matching and needs for Bama

Anisoke makes more sense for UT's roster because Anisoke is a down-lown space-clearer which will undoubtedly benefit Fulk.

I'm sure Barnes and his staff were aware of Bruner's existence and decided to prioritize Anisoke

That'd suck about Pons but it would make sense. He's pretty much a finished product and I don't think he'll ever be an NBA player, but he'll make some money playing in France. He's a good SEC complementary player, though, and Tennessee would benefit from his return
