We should have bought the panhandle after the civil war when we had the chance.

There wasn't much talk about Cothron because it was pretty clear we weren't going after him.
I'd like to get Walker but I'm only going to meltdown about Pollard. Walker sounds like a long, athletic wing who's an OK shooter, its not exactly like he offers something totally new.
I mean Lacey, Randolph and Cooper were supposed to be more than OK shooters coming out of high school. And they still could be.
I agree though on "locking down the state." Certainly we want to get who we want out of the state, but its not enough. Last year was a very good year for the state but this year there's just not much.

The Gators made a late push after a few scholarships came open and Walker felt familiar enough with the program despite not taking an official visit to Gainesville.
Basketball recruiting in my eyes is and will always be the dirtiest and nastiest thing about college athletics period, football doesn't even come close

What's dirty about a FLHS player committing to UF?
Posted on 4/13/12 at 4:24 pm to roadGator
Cause he didnt go to bama?

He's obviously talking about the fact that he never visited Florida. Not that I agree that it sounds shady, he's an in-state kid, a spot opened up late, nothing to see here.
The most I got from that link about Releford was that TiderInsider needs a new forum design. It amazes me that those type of forums still exist.
I take it this was the tweet: "Gotta make my next move the best move!!"
Meltdown

We produce enough good players to be a legit team each year. You will see plenty of players in Bama in the NCAA tourney that we never heard of.

Yeah, they're just usually WWWWWAAAAYYYYY under the radar, half of the time we never hear of 'em. I'm sure you would be cool if Grant signs 1-2 star Bama players out of nowhere.

I would take the dude with the fro at Murray State.
Most of those guys are the type of players who need a couple of years to develop before really contributing much though. Freshmen are typically expected to come in and be able to play significant minutes at a high major program.
We don't want to recruit mid-major players.

Bama needs solid coaching, period. Bama gets that and they are a tourney team each year, with a little run here and there.
CBB is all about coaching, more so than even CFB. Maybe with exception to the elite CBB programs, which Bama will never be. There is more than enough talent in the area for Bama to be a tourney team each year with proper coaching.
Not commenting on Grant, just a general statement about the Bama program.
ETA: I know CBB gets a lot of pub for dirty recruiting but I still believe CFB leads the way, follow the money.

I hope we don't offer him. I'd much rather save the scholarship for 2013. I also hope Pollard's Georgetown visit was terrible. Hopefully he'll announce a decision sometime this week.

BOL poster just posted that Mike Gbinije from Duke was transferring and Alabama was his early favorite. Did y'all hear anything about that?

I heard he was transferring but I would have no idea why we'd be his early favorite? I don't think Grant has any connection to him.

Let me rephrase that. The poster said he was interested in Bama.
