Well Miss St. just hired Bryce Drew SMH. Coached 1 year at Valpo. Now if Pollard goes to Miss. St still he was going there the whole time.

Yea im just saying though. In his interview him and his mom want a proven coach and all that. In the end i still think he ends up at MSU.

IDK we did well without Green when he was gone. These younger guys stepped up. Hopefully they will improve and hopefully Gueye gets healthy and in shape.
Bull. Name one quality team Bama beat without Green. Bama beat Arkansas rpi > 100 and Tennessee rpi > 80 but no elite teams. Bama beat VCU, Purdue and Wich St with JaMychal.
Bama is losing its best player and there is no one on the horizon to replace what he contributed to the Tide. If CAG could sign Pollard he would be best candidate to replace Green's contributions.

Tony Mitchell could. gotta bring him back if Bama really wants to whoop some arse.

Pollard dropped MSU off his list. He's down to four teams. We have to be the clear favorite IMO

I agree that bringing Tony Mitchell back (with a better attitude) would be the best thing CAG could do to improve this team, TM is a different kind of player than JG. TM doesn't defend post players and TM doesn't score on the low block. He did score and rebound at about the same rate as JG and perhaps he could offset that loss of production.
TM got most of his points in transition and he was Bama's best three point shooter before his suspension. TM is much more athletic than JG and he runs the floor better, but JG did a lot of dirty work that TM has never done. JG will be missed, more than Bama fans want to acknowledge. If anyone thinks Engstrom or Gueye are going to replace JG then they don't know basketball.

LOL Gueye has some skills. Green was good but not as good as people made him out to be. When Gueye was in the game he looked like he knew how to play basketball. He was looking for people to cut but nobody would.

The only skill Gueye has demonstrated to date is being 7 feet tall. He blocked a few shots but has not demonstrated that he could rebound, score, pass or defend at an SEC post player level. He seems pretty capable at fouling, and looks like he can turn the ball over with ease. Unless Gueye or Engstrom can become a threat to score on the block next year is likely to be a step back for Bama.

My guess is that we'd go with one true big and four perimeter types next year. Signing Pollard would be big for that in that he could be a four like Cooper was (although he's longer). Big enough to defend and rebound but not really be a post scorer.
Releford, Eblen, Lacey, Randolph, Hankerson, Cooper, Steele, Pollard (?), Walker (?), Omojoh manning the perimeter. Jacobs, Engstrom, Gueye playing the 5 with two big guys at times.
Would need to be an up tempo pressing team.

i agree with most everything you said, but i think TM is a better post defender than you are giving him credit for. he's a very above average shot blocker and he doesnt get pushed around much.
nick jacobs needs to become a rebounder. coaches got their work cut out for them on that one though.
If Bama can land Pollard, maybe he can be a rebounder and be a guy who is very active down low. but im really not sure what kind of player he is.

Considering that State just fricked up their hire, if we don't get Pollard I am going to be pretty angry.

Extremely angry. Getting Pollard and Walker would be a very good class assuming we take two. Getting Pollard and Mitchell returning would be the best case scenario I think. It's just highly unlikely IMO.

I would be too but who knows what will happen. They could have hired a decent name and Pollard may have instantly disliked him or vice versa in this case.
Its better than if they had hired Payne, and hopefully he won't be impressed by him.

Do you mean we should go after a JUCO kid? Depends on if we miss out on Pollard I guess. BTW what do you think about Luke Cothron?
Posted on 4/1/12 at 9:41 pm to Crede15
The juco to watch with Bama is wing Rod Rucker from NW Florida, originally from Elberton, GA.

There was an article posted about him a few pages back. It made it sound like he might have finally removed his cranium from it's long standing home deep inside his rectum. He has a history though, and even though he's the kind of inside presence we need, I'm not sure it's worth the risk. He only has 2 more years to play anyway doesn't he?

Don't forget Gueye tore his ACL in August. I don't think he was 100% all year. Also, I really hope this new hire for MSU makes us the forerunner.
Is Georgetown still recruiting him really hard ?
