A new #1 is coming (Recruiting Rankings)

I know it is super early and Alabama no doubt has a good chance at being #1 again this year, but Ohio State is absolutely killing it this recruiting cycle and will be hard to beat.

The streak has to end eventually. Alabama has had an unprecedented run with seven consecutive No. 1 recruiting classes according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, but this is the year it comes to an end.
quote:
Conversely, Alabama isn't a Crystal Ball leader for any current 247Sports Composite five-stars. Unlike last year when we knew throughout most of the process that guys like Henry Ruggs III, Devonta Smith and LaBryan Ray were borderline locks to end up in Tuscaloosa, the natural ties to five-stars aren't quite there for Nick Saban.

The No. 1 recruiter in college football currently is Dennis Johnson, or as LSU head coach Ed Orgeron affectionately calls him, "Meatball." The guy was a graduate assistant that got promoted to a full-time coach when Orgeron got the job and clearly the head man knew what he was doing. Johnson – the same guy that closed on K'Lavon Chaisson to steal him from Texas late in the process last cycle – has landed Adam Anderson, a potential five-star who was once committed to Georgia out of Georgia. He's also landed Jarell Cherry, a long, athletic outside linebacker out of Dallas. So he's doing work outside of the friendly confines of Louisiana.

LSU, OSU, Michigan, Clemson, all of the current powers with get theirs and have excellent classes. Saban is being EXTREMELY selective this cycle... They are planning to sign only about 22 players this year... They have a roster LOADED with 4-5 stars already... Call me crazy but I think Bama will be ok...

The Grumps are slacking this year. They might not even finish in the Top 5 this year. They aren't even in the running for a lot of 5 star recruits.
LSU and Tennessee are starting strong but the rest of the SEC is under-performing.
Ohio State is going to have the #1 recruiting class this year unless Clemson can take a lot of Georgia's recruits.
On a related noted, I think Clemson has declared war on Georgia. It like every person Georgia is trying to recruit has Clemson as their second option.

Alabama won't be #1.
However, as long as they fill much needed spots at CB and DL I won't really care where they are ranked.
I see a Top 4 class at the end of the day, which is still really good.

Now you've done it.

I think everyone believes Bama will be fine. It just weird seeing this random anomaly. Bama's 2019 class is currently better than the 2018 class.

We know, hence 7 straight years of #1 recruiting classes.

I think Clemson is the team to beat on the recruiting trail this year. They only took 14 last cycle, so they should have a plenty big class. Ohio St and LSU should have top 5 classes and I think Texas will haul in a really strong class as well.
As long as Bama brings in a few mean SOBs on both lines and a few CBs, I won't be too worried.

First off they managed to get the #1 overall recruit and QB who just happens to be from GA. He is helping them a lot in GA. Second they are riding on the heels of a National Championship while UGA's season last year was a bit of a failure. Third off they would be stupid not too, GA is filled with star talent and they are less then 2 hrs from GA. Its still along way to NSD, but as long as UGA wins and Kirby proves himself as a good coach as well then we don't have too much to worry about.

Small class.
I would be surprised as of now if OSU isn't the #1 class. They lead for 3 5* guys right now (Carmen, Parsons, Cook), and may actually not sign a 3* in the class. Will probably also take 25 or so.

I expect Bama to have a stellar class as usual but it is not early. If my team only had two recruits committed at the beginning of June I would be "sniffing my armpits" or something... to the contrary Bama has usually had a stockpile already built by this time and just adding quality to the top of the remainder of the class... I would expect them to have 10 - 15 quality recruits already sewed up by this time.
Bama has "processed" a bunch of players recently and I wonder if it has finally caught up to them.

Bama is taking a small class this year, only 22. So they are being super selective and want the recruits to perform at camp before they can commit.
If Saban wanted 10-15 commitments right now, he would have them. This is Saban we are talking about here, the best recruiter in the country. He has only had the number 1 class 9 of the last 10 years.

I agree with you here, but Saban is known for locking down a few big recruits early. I predict that Bama wont have the season they want too. I don't expect them to have a bad season, but I do wonder if Bama doesn't make the SEC championship what recruits will think about Bama.

The last time Bama didn't make the SEC Championship Game, they signed one of the best classes in history.
Saban doesn't like playing in the SEC Championship Game because he loses a week of recruiting.
There might be two teams on the schedule that can beat Bama this year, FSU and Auburn.

Meh. We are only 1/3 of the way to NSD. I think the only thing we are really behind on is QB recruiting. And I don't think we will get a good one this year given that Hurts is still young and Tua is behind him. The rest we will be able to make up by NSD.

I don't think so. I am willing to bet that Alabama will be ranked within a few spots of LSU, if not ahead, by NSD.

One hell of a year for Meatball!

Wait. What? How'd I miss this ignorance?
