Texas never had a recruiting problem. It’s always been coaching and developing the talent.

Definitely something to this . . .they recruited a bumper crop of 4 and 5 star safeties and corners in that 2018 class and most of them were massive disappointments.

Good for you Miss. State. He was a guy I badly wanted at LSU when he was in high school. He's a hell of a player.

Was a starter as a sophomore but lost the job as a junior and played mostly special teams

Say what you want, but State has had zero issues developing defensive talent for the better part of a decade. With no coaching continuity on that side of that ball.

notice he is on the west coast. Only thing he knows shite about is the lakers. We have a top 3 DC in the conference. He would know that if he watched sports

I wouldn't go that far. Arnett is pretty good and will bolt to a better job next year, but he isn't top 3 in the SEC.

Good coverage guy, but not always consistent. He had some, shall we say, on-field malfeasance, but that wasn't his character. And while coverage was his primary strength, he had trouble getting bodied up by bigger guys and tackling after the fact.

Going into 2019, it was reported that he was going to be the team's best cover corner. FWIW, I don't know if that's more indicative of Texas or Jalen, but Texas did have some pretty good athletes in their defensive backfield at the time.

I think the change of scenery will help him improve as a football player for sure.

Sounds like he’ll transition to FS well. Thanks for the analysis
