5 Star RB Akylin Dear commits to Alabama 8-20-24

Composite 5 star Akylin Dear, #2 ranked RB (#1 247sports) committed to Alabama.

Can someone explain how every individual service has Dear as a four-star recruit, but he is somehow a five star in the composite?
Seems like the Bama site is just making shite up. Even the link it provides shows that he is a 4 star. Bama exaggerating his ranking and the number of five stars it has signed.

247 - #45 overall (#1 RB) - 4 star

Any organization that rates that kid as a 4* is either trash or they're mad he didn't pay them to camp.

I'm not arguing how good he is, just the fact that the Bama site (and the OP) call him a 5 star when the link they provided specifically says he is a 4 star.
Then OP quotes the article as saying Bama has six five star commits, despite the link showing it is four.

He's a composite 5-star on 247s website. I dunno why or how, but that's 247 national, not an Alabama website.

Thanks George, they should have linked that one if they wanted to call him a 5 star.
I still can't fathom how every recruiting service rates him as a four star, but the composite has him as a five.

Almost all of the services cap their number of 5-stars in a class at 32 representing the number of 1st round NFL Draft picks.
The formula is based on end of the year rankings.

All I have heard from the Bama sites is he has a good chance of getting that fifth star by the end of the year.

I don't know how they calculate the stars, but Alabama is not making "shite up". They are reporting info from the recruiting site.

So, he isn’t actually a 5-star now but likely will be. Seems like an easy enough answer to Doc’s question. At least 2 of you were able to do that without getting your panties bunched up.

Incorrect. He’s currently a composite 5 star on 24/7 composite ratings. I believe the link was provided above

Why would I be? LSU has the #1 RB committed.
I just think it makes no sense for every service to evaluate a guy as a 4 star but have it add up to 5 stars in the composite.
