I understand OP will still be recruited hard by other teams after his commitment, so its still a battle, but what makes the majority of UGA fans so confident that he'll ultimately sign with UGA (assuming that's not the pick tomorrow)? Just because Kirby and last year's success? Is this an inside troll job to make a splash on signing day? Why is confidence so high in that scenario?

Because Kirby has pulled off the unthinkable a number of times in just 2 and a half cycles. We've flipped LSU guys, Bama guys, etc.

I agree with a previous AU poster that I'd rather be fighting to keep him than fighting to flip him, but as long as he hasn't put pen to paper, Kirby will stay hot on the trail, and as long as Kirby's on the trail, UGA's a major threat.

Btw, the same thing here applies in reverse because it's Grayson HS. Never underestimate Grayson HS's vendetta with UGA. I'll believe Pappoe's a Dawg when he's enrolled on campus

I was encouraged by Americus because it seemed like Pappoe to Auburn was done and done, but if Americus is saying otherwise, then I believe it's still possible.

After the pair of NSDs for the 2018 class, I refuse to question Kirby's ability to close on a target that he truly wants. He's exceptional at conveying how a particular kid would fit into the needs of the team.

Some might argue that it's a small sample size of only a class or two, but when you look at just how many individual HS players bought in - and that he's not blowing smoke when it comes to his policy of best player plays - it's a pretty compelling argument. I'll revise my opinion if he begins to miss on high profile targets en masse, but until then, it appears that Kirby gets who Kirby wants.

Yeah, give credit to Auburn. They did a good job recruiting OP. While I don’t think it’s over, it’s a lot easier to recruit a kid who is committed.

Travis Williams has been possibly the best hire Gus Malzahn has made, other than Kevin Steele.

While Auburn might win the battle tomorrow, I have a feeling UGA wins the war.

can you link me up to where Americus has said ANYTHING on the topic? I saw one spot where an AU fan said (or maybe UGA) said OP to AU was done and Americus showed some "Eddie Griffin Meme" saying "it ain't like that" or something to that effect.

I see all these posts referencing AMERICUS but would like to see what he actually said.

I see this as a recurring "take" from UGA fans....just based on last year w/ Kirby flipping several recruits? Every year is a new year. OP seems to be a little more deliberate in his approach - hope I am wrong if he picks AU but my guess is Pappoe will stay with his commitment - whoever it shall be tomorrow.

That's been my position as well. I think he sticks with whoever he selects tomorrow, barring something like coaching changes.

Only one of the two programs in question for Pappoe's services has a risk of running off their coach...

Yeah, nothing says "running off their coach" like a 7 year deal.

I guess UGA position coaches have no ambition then to move up the ranks. OP openly admits that he's closer to position coaches, and particularly Travis Williams. If T-Will left, we are out - that's not happening though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him take a DC job somewhere after another season or two

I hope we’d consider hiring him as DC when Steele inevitably retires.

To keep T-Will, you could just do like UGA did to keep James Coley in the fold, we basically doubled his salary and gave him the “Co-Offensive Coordinator” tag.

He's said before that he wants to be next Joe Whitt and coach linebackers at AU for his career. That could change if someone comes calling with a lot of cash but i think hes gonna be at AU for awhile

I think TW has an excellent chance to be our next DC after Steele retires. He's a unique guy in that he lives, breathes, and is all things AU. He very well could turn down other opportunities just to stay in AU.

It wont be this season, so it wont effect OP's recruitment.

I almost said something similar at the end of my post.

T-Will reminds me a lot of Travaris Robinson.

Appears we'll have a hat on the table tomorrow for OPs Announcement, for decoration, really wish he wouldn't tease the Volnation tards who actually think we have a chance.

On the bright side, at least this hat probably won't get tossed 10 rows deep
