other than liking AU's coach I just don't see what auburn offers that we don't.

That argument works against you just as easily. Taking off red and black glasses, you cant say that UGA offers something more than AU does except for getting to say he plays for his state's school. He will likely have equal opportunity to play for championships, and get drafted at both schools.
I'm not being a homer when I say I don't think AU has as much to offer at the moment as we do. I mentioned that he has the best relationship with AU coaches which is huge and can't be understated. I also said that we are logjammed at OLB so if that's where he's set on playign I get that. But if he is open/looking at playing ILB, which I thought I saw somewhere that he was, I stand by my statement. We have exactly 1 guy that is "proven" at ILB and he'll be gone by the time OP gets on campus in '19. When he gets here the position would be wide slap open for him, not to mention our most recent ILB just got drafted in the top 10. Combine that with the trajectory our team is on and the fact it's close to home.

I don't see how you can say that at this point in time.

Because the the tint of your glasses is showing.

If you were a 5* LB with pro aspirations, would you rather play for a team coached by Malzahn or Smart? Which one actually has the track record of getting that position to the pros?

Well, is he wrong? The last time Auburn played for a national title was 2013. The last time UGA played for a national title was in January.
The last time UGA won the SEC was in December. The last time Auburn won was in 2013.
The last time UGA had a LB drafted in the first round was last Thursday. The last time Auburn had an LB drafted at all was 2007 (the last time Auburn had an LB taken in the first round was Takeo Spikes in 1998).
UGA has the edge over Auburn in championship opportunities and it's not even close in draft status.

AU literally just played y'all for SEC title. How is it ridiculous to say he will get a chance to play for titles at AU?

And the time before that for Auburn was 2010. What about UGA?

That’s fair, but it doesn’t really speak to coaching as much as it does recruiting. OP is an NFL player regardless of where he goes.

No.

The path to our championship opportunities run through the SEC East and Auburn. The path for y'alls championship opportunities run through the SEC West and Georgia. Odds are in UGA's favor in that comparison.

Relevance to a 2019 recruit?

Again, relevance? If your only counterargument is "1980" then I think we're done here.

So was Byron Cowart. So was Tray Blackmon. Coaching matters just as much as talent. Isaiah Wynn and Sony Michel and Roquan Smith are all testament to that.

So the argument is "Come to UGA, we play inferior competition?"

The NFL Draft critique is a valid one & I think the best argument right now for why UGA is a better opportunity for Pappoe than AU. I am sure it's one UGA staff has used as well. I am sure AU is selling idea that those NFL Draft woes happened under different defensive leadership which is up to Pappoe to buy or not
But idea that somehow playing for championships is massively different at UGA & AU is not accurate. Gus has won the SEC West twice in 5 seasons at AU. The opportunities will be there at either school right now
At end of day tho it appears this decision came down to relationships more than necessarily the programs themselves. He's sold on T-WILL right now. We will see if that holds & if down the line T-WILL can deliver

You’re trying to argue that UGa is in better position for “championships” based on one good season which just so happened to come down to the wire with Auburn. We are done here, but it isn’t due to the fact that you haven’t won a title since 1980... it’s because you’re being a homer.
Byron Cowart was a special case (and transferred) and Tray Blackmon played for Tuberville. So, uh, relevance to a 2019 recruit?

Most teams that play for a championship will see an uptick in draft picks so it’s not surprising those guys just got drafted high. We had a lot of draftees in 2010 and 2013 as well. If Kerryon has stayed healthy and we had won the SEC and made playoff (not saying that would have happened) both he, Braden smith and Carlton davis could easily have been 1st round.

This ones hooked deep, RB. Dont know if you'll be able to release him.

I don’t know why we’re arguing about a recruit committing in May. Auburn and UGA will be fine with or without OP. It’s going to be long 7 months until ENSD

No, the argument is we don't have to go through arguably the two best teams in the conference just to make it to the SECCG. We just have to go through the 3rd best team in the conference to play (probably) the 1st.

Again, not saying anythign nefarious is at play, just saying that the offer was likely facilitated by having a number of high ranked teammates that AU wants.
No doubt

Just saying that if you have to nail it that far down to a recruit about opportunity to play for titles not sure how that's a dramatically better selling point. To me selling idea of playing 2 of the best in the country every year is a positive & reiterates idea you get a shot at playing for titles

Like I said above, the NFL angle one makes sense to me. The better chance at playing for championships seems like a stretch

And that one good season just so happened to, you know, be last season and it came directly at Auburn's expense. You tell me if that's homerism or stating facts.

The argument was that coaching matters to 5* talent same as it does to any other player. Unlike the separate championship argument, time hasn't really changed that particular axiom. But nice attempt at the "gotcha" moment. Sure had the Auburn poster below you convinced.

Center is the most important position for AU's OL with our style of play. It caused us all kinds of trouble the last two seasons when our starter got hurt and look how terrible we were in our spring game because all 3 centers were hurt. UGA blitzed our A gap over and over again in the SECCG because our center was playing hurt. We really have to have depth there. Don't forget that 2/3 years ago AU signed a JUCO center specifically to be a backup. I actually like Clark's film although I think he has more upside as a OG than OC IMO.
