I keep seeing

“Holyfield going pro”
“Herrien transfers”

On messageboards like it’s gospel. Is this just a big circular rumor?

Mainly speculation on the par of some insiders. I mean, I think Holyfield will go if he gets a good grade from scouts. From what I have heard he is waiting on that before deciding.
I think with Herrien the speculation is he might leave because we are stacking up talent, and he is not NFL material, so he might go somewhere to get a lot of playing time.

It is all speculation at this time, but are educated guesses.

That would be a hard, maybe.

When I played i hated playing in really cold temperatures. If you get your hands hit, or anything like that it hurts like the dickens, so I would not want to go above the Mason-Dixon Line if I were a player from the south.

I am sure James Franklin is probably saying “come be the next Saquon” BS.

There is a very low chance that this doesn't happen... just looking at the draft boards and what he'd be competing with in the draft *this* year versus next. RB is a position that typically does not move up draft boards by playing an additional year.

I have heard this directly from people that I trust... not just message board rumors. Obviously things can always change, but at this point, I would tend to believe this is the most likely scenario regardless of what happens with Holyfield.

I just don’t see Holyfield as a high draft pick - of course, like you said, staying another year may not help either.

He will be a higher draft pick this year than next year.

That's the thing... he won't be any *higher* next year... so almost doesn't matter what his draft grade is... given the available pool of RBs in 2019 draft, he'd be dumb not to go... he's currently seen as about the 5th best RB... even if RB is light on talent this year, that's probably good enough for a 3rd maybe 4th round grade at worst. If he stays for one more year, he likely gets shuffled back to closer to 10th best RB or worse.

Ultimately, it's early still... and combine results will dictate a lot of movement both directions for people, but Holyfield should perform well there.

Sanders to Bama.

Even if Holyfied and Herrien are gone, UGA still returns Swift/White/Cook (All 5-stars) plus whatever other backs get signed in this class. He'd be wise to come to Bama with his boy Neal and share carries with Najee for a year and then be the man.

Because Alabama is devoid of talent at RB?

I mean, I do expect him to not sign with us (hoping he does, though) but he isn't going to Alabama because of our depth chart.

This years RB class is awful. Holyfield has enough film to be drafted day 2. I don’t see him being another Gurley, Chubb or Michel but he will be successful in the NFL. There is zero incentive to come back outside of trying to win a Natty.

I don’t pay attention to Penn State so I don’t know anything about their depth chart, outside of incoming RB Devyn Ford. If I’m a RB, I’m going to Bama, LSU or UGA. I think Cain’s decision comes down to Holyfield and Herrien. If both leave, I like UGA’s chances.

To be honest, Cain was overshadowed by Sanders at IMG. While I think Sanders and Emery are the safest bets in this class, I’d be estatic to land Cain. Off topic, 247 dropped him almost immediately after he committed to ESPN’s AA Game. Illustrates how they show favoritism to certain players

Its a fact Swift, Holyfield and Herrien will be gone his sophomore year. Having wait one year would be good for him to get a feel of the SEC.

He would the guy at RB in 2020 at Bama. Jacobs and N Harris will be gone.

Would play a lot next year if Jacobs leaves.

He might play a lot, but he wouldn't be "the guy" with Najee Harris at Alabama, would he? I mean, I didn't realize you had lost BJ Emmons, and your depth chart does look more inviting, but Najee Harris looks pretty good last I saw of him.
Is Flowers still at Alabama?

I think he's simply referring to "the guy" in 2020, and that's presuming Najee goes to the draft after next season... which is very likely... As stated elsewhere, there isn't a lot of value for RBs to come back after their Jr season unless injuries or question marks surround them (from a purely financial/draft related standpoint... obviously can be other motivations).

Ah! Gotcha! I was surprised to see the depth chart at Alabama. Past Najee they are pretty thin, unless they have gotten more than I know about.

Brian Robinson is the next guy up. He needs to be paired with someone. Alabama signed Jerome Ford in the 2018 class. But he’s a project.

This is one of those situations where I don't understand why this dude isn't a done deal.

He'd come in and almost instantly be contributing at Alabama.
