You can have a blue chip roster, but if you don't develop that talent I don't really think that should count. Texas also probably lacked bluechips at the O line and QB positions and that is by far where they struggled the most this season. You look at what teams like TCU and Baylor do with the lack of 5 stars they have and it's pretty easy to see how important player development is.

Well this thread turned to shite pretty quickly. And UCLA seems to be trending pretty recently, judging from the ESPN article among other things. The Baylor 247 mod CB'd Malik to UCLA earlier today as well. Should be interesting, but it seems almost certain that he's not going to Texas at this point

I just don't see Malik going to California with his mother's health issues. Maybe he will branch out completely on his own though. If Sumlin grabs him without a DC that would be one of the most impressive recruiting jobs I will have ever seen.
Sumlin isn't allowed to personal tell Malik who the DC hire is, correct? Because it's the recruiting dead period wouldn't Sumlin have to make an announcement?
