4* RB JUCO Tyren Jones, former Bama kid, commits to mUSChamp ...

Question for Bama fans, et al, about Tyren Jones
Tyren Jones LINK ... what's the inside story on him? He was highly rated, committed and signed with Bama, ran into a couple of issues I guess LINK ... went to JUCO LINK and got that squared away, turned it around. Similar to the Alvin Kamara story, who ended-up at Tennessee.
Is he as good as some have suggested he may be?
IF he signs with us he'll have Marcus Lattimore standing over him making sure he follows the straight and narrow path.
Can he be an immediate contributor and a big time SEC back?

Some thought he was the best of the bunch that signed with Alabama that year.

I thought he was better than AK. He was more of a straight ahead runner instead of slashers like AK. He has had off the field troubles like fights at school though.

It has been a tough few months for Jones, an AJC Super 11 selection. His senior season ended early with a knee injury against Etowah on Nov. 2.

Just looked it up and the MDJ and AJC both reported it as a lockeroom fight with a teammate.

He was good. Would have been nice to have him next year. Though if Nick Saban can't get him under control I don't know how Lattimore will. I don't know specifically what his off the field issues were. Im pretty sure he got arrested for weed. Don't think that's what did him in. More the straw that broke the camels back. USC should try and sign him. He will improve your team.

Yeah, about the Lattimore thing. Probably just more of a positive influence on him, maybe help keep him working towards a productive goal to be the best he can be both as a ballplayer and a human being. Lattie should be a good influence I hope.
We need another good RB for Kurt Roper's offense. We actually need a whole stable of them eventually of course, but this Jones kid seems like he could come-in and maybe help right away hopefully.

Great pickup, we needed depth at RB and brought in the best JUCO RB, so this was key for our situation.

Like to fight, likes pot, but is a great scat back. The little PT he got at Alabama was solid. Thought he would be similar to Dee Hart but a little more power.

Our RB situation is pretty bad. I think even with Jones if Crawford commits, we take him.
