re: 4* OT Chad Lindberg commits to UGA
Looks like Bielema's downfall at Arkie was losing Pittman to UGA. The guy can recruit linemen

Agreed. Wilson is a 1 year starter with room to improve.

But if you see the improvement in form from his redshirt year to 2018, you know he is working hard.
It isnt crazy to assume the same trajectory with another offseason to work on film and Pittman tuning his craft.

Hell... the year over year improvement for Kindley is insane. Wilson will be ready by year's end.

re: 4* OT Chad Lindberg commits to UGA
Gotta plan on Wilson leaving. He could easily be all SEC 2nd team or better.

Good news is next year is a pretty good year for O-Line in GA. If we see 4 UGA linemen in the first two rounds of the NFL draft we're getting a haul in recruiting.

Why would Wilson go? Don't see him anywhere in the top 10 OT's for the 2020 draft.M

I would imagine he would be picked in the first 3 rounds.

Most have Thomas listed as the 1st or 2nd OT taken. So you think that ranking means "less than nothing" ?

We'll see.I think he needs more work on his body and needs more games under his belt. This will be only his 2 nd season with game experience.

... One pick doesn't immediately become useless when you mention that the early mocks "as a whole" generally mean less than nothing.

Look back at early mock drafts from last year... there are plenty of guys that were seen as big time targets that either went late or may not have gone at all... It's just too early to say one way or the other who from UGA's current OL has a chance at going.

On the high side, the number is probably 4. We'll see whether it's all of that number or less...

Sure but just using his own words.Generally the mocks get the top talent right.

You mean s "chance" at being drafted?

As said earlier,Thomas has only one season under his belt and was a semi project as a true Freshman.I think he benefits greatly by sticking it out after this season.

Who knows though...I thought Ridley,Nauta and Holyfield all made bad decisions.

Have you ever wondered why these mock sites dont leave up their early mocks? Because they are terrible. They seem to miss on as many as they nail.

re: 4* OT Chad Lindberg commits to UGA

Nah.. I said what I mean... Whether they get drafted or not is irrelevant. It's whether they think they *will* and what they believe is in their best interest. As you said, I thought Nauta made a horrible decision. Same for Ridley. I've finally been persuaded that Holyfield *unfortunately* may have made the best decision for himself... If he wasn't going to improve his 40 time, he was going to have a hard road through the draft anyways... Might as well go try in a year where RB is a poor draft class overall. This year will have a lot more talent and he'd have just slid down farther.

Presumably you meant Wilson here. Thomas has 2 seasons in obviously and has been a stud. WE would benefit greatly by him sticking around, but he likely would not. Wilson is a question mark for me... if he has a stud season and we go to the playoffs, he'll have a ton of buzz, all the right "measurables", and enough footage and spotlight on a very good team that he might consider it. I agree that he could probably benefit with another year, but the question becomes how much. If he's a late 1st round or early 2nd round pick, that's probably not far off of his ceiling as what amounts to exclusively a RT (or maybe a shift to the interior at the next level?) prospect... Again, it's less about what he will get drafted at and more about what he believes... That's hard to predict.

You mean Wilson?

Frankly, the development of Thomas bodes well for the 2nd year players this year. His 2nd season starting and he gets all american accolades.

Wilson and Kindley were very good in their first year starting. The trend with the extra off-season is to push for all conference accolades.

If Cleveland can stay healthy, he has the same all conference potential.

Not really talking about the specific draft order just the round they projected the players in and they "generally" get the top tier rankings of posistion groups
pretty close. The draft order itself is a complete crap shoot.

Wilson ain't going above the mid rounds IMO just based mostly on his lack of
experience.NFL teams need these guys to produce and be game ready ASAP and don't have time for
projects.

If healthy, he will have an entire year of experience by seasons end. 2 years as a starter on the OL... how much experience/film is needed if he continues to improve?

The point still stands. They don’t let you view their old position groups either.

2 sec seasons is plenty of experience

Frankly, it's pretty common for a guy to have no more than 2-2.5 seasons of experience as an OL... It's *uncommon* for Freshmen to start on the OL, and even as Sophmores they sometimes are fighting to earn a spot.

Yes

2 different deals.Kindley got some spot starts before becoming a full timer.

Okay?

Obviously and more so than Wilson.

For Thomas, sure but not for Wilson and no position in FB requires more in game reps to get better than OL...QB is obviously up there as well.

So are you telling me he goes in above the 4th or 5th round?

My whole point in this discussion was that Wilson would benefit more than any other of the OL by staying and it's really not close.

re: 4* OT Chad Lindberg commits to UGA
Wilson is a physical freak and will have nearly 30 starts in the sec, which is a ton of game reps, so I think he is no less than a 3rd round pick.

Your point is based upon a season that hasn't happened yet.

How can it not be close?

That’s not exactly a reach of a prediction. It’s not hard to project guys like Thomas.

It is very hard to project beyond the very top of the draft. It requires a ton of homework and guesswork about both college players and pro teams.
