Yes. Just like 400 other kids. You aren't hinting that all 400 were a priority to our staff, are you?

Alabama compares McAdory 4-star athlete Malcolm Askew to current All-American

Malcolm Askew hasn't mentioned Alabama much lately with his recruitment, but the Crimson Tide coaches are still making a push for the four-star athlete from McAdory. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Askew has made it his desire to play cornerback in college, unless he goes to a Pac-12 school where he wants to play receiver. However, Alabama sees him as a safety. Alabama coaches stopped by McAdory last Thursday, he said. "They say I remind them a lot of Eddie Jackson," Askew said. "They signed three corners so they aren't really looking to bring in corners. They say if I come there, they'd use me more as a safety." Jackson was a cornerback for his first two seasons at Alabama. He moved to safety last season and thrived, earning first-team All-SEC honors, some All-America honors and leading the team with six interceptions. Askew is going to play quarterback for McAdory this fall. Last year, he played receiver and safety. He works out mostly at cornerback when he goes to college camps, and that's where he caught the eye of Georgia coaches last summer and nearly committed. "At the next level, I'd be on the small side of a safety, but I feel like I'd be more toward the bigger side of a corner," Askew said. "I like safety, but I just love corner more." Askew developed his relationship with current Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt when Pruitt was at Georgia. He's got a good relationship with assistant Mario Cristobal and is building one with Derrick Ansley. "A lot of coaches say that in the NFL, they're putting corners at safety and moving safeties to linebacker," Askew said. "Look at (former Alabama safety, current St. Louis Rams player) Mark Barron. They move him to linebacker. I want to play corner, but if I have to play safety, I can." Askew plans on releasing a top 10 in May and going from there. He hopes to commit somewhere at the early part of his senior season. Askew plans on being a December high school graduate.

Kind of sounds like a priority of some sort, huh? You guys just didn't offer what he wanted..

He wasnt a priority for Smart but was for Pruitt. Most of Askew' s bitterness came from not being a big priority to our staff last year.

Certainly you see the difference between our staff not making a kid a priority and calling the kid a headcase

This conversation has nothing to do with what your staff thinks. I'm talking about what the narrative from Bama fans is.

And the narrative was not "our staff has other priorities"

The "narrative" from our fan base is that we don't want him. I don't think you can find one Alabama fan that wanted him.

If that hurts your feelings I'm sorry, but it's the truth.

Roc wanted to commit to Bama not long after Scarbrough committed. Bama told him he couldn't commit then and to wait. That royally pissed Roc off and he was Auburn bound after that.

This happens all the time with Bama, if you aren't at the top of Bama's board you have to wait sometimes. It happen to some very good players
