if he wants Championships, there's only Bama and Clemson.

Must be a pass-catching TE. At first I was surprised that OSU didn't have their claws in him, but then I noticed they never offered. Massive offer list however, so must be a good one...

Ohio State already had two TEs committed.

I’m sure he’s fine. Alabama really shouldn’t be questioned at this point - if they offer a kid, he’s probably legit.
But on the other hand he’s a fricking tight end.

?? Big, pass catching TEs that can move well are huge in today's game.
Billingsley was a 4 star recruit as well and had a tremendous year.
Howard was a phenomenal athlete and underutilized until he basically went off in the CFPs.
UFs offensive lethality sunk or swam with Kyle Pitts.
I think its awesome getting him on board early.
Even if he were a big, blocking, lumbering, occasional pass catching TE in a run heavy/play action offense, getting a reliable 4 star talent who wants to compete with the best would still be something to be excited about.

sure, a big pass catching tight end is great. but they're hardly necessary, or honestly even that valuable when you have a stable of elite receivers and a great running game. i mean, who the hell was alabama's tight end this year? did it make a difference one way or another? would alabama not have been national champion with a different tight end?
in fact, i think if we did a rank order of preference, a great tight end is pretty low on the list.
unless its a kid like michael mayer who looks like a sure fire nfl stud, i would probably trade an elite tight end for an elite player at just about any other position. maybe over fullback???

Jahleel Billingsley.
He didn't play much before Waddle got injured, but he was great for us down the playoff stretch.

Last 6 games
17 catches (2.8 per game)
274 yards (46 per game)
16.1 YPC
3 TDs (0.5 per game)
After decades of yelling about the tight end we've had pretty good success with tight ends making big differences the last 5 years

Ask Tom Brady about Gronk or Mullens about Pitts

You must not know much about football and the matchup problems that a great TE creates. Especially one who has the ability to block and catch the ball.

What did you say about TEs?

Please. No one is saying a great tight end isn’t useful.
But I mean come on - for every gronk there are dozens of replacement level players.
Ask any successful NFL gm. You’ll take the DE/LT/CB/DT etc etc way before a tight end.
This is a stupid debate
