Good thing Gibbs' other cousin that doesn't suck is at Tennessee

How do we know he doesn't suck? He has yet to prove otherwise on a college football field.

Rusty seems to think Gibbs will go to UGA now.
Yea, said they were extremely closed and he would be shocked if Gibbs doesn't end up at Georgia.

I'm not saying Rusty is making things up but his report about this Reed kid having a chance to go to Tennessee is fabricated. Seems strange to me that none of the Tennessee mods on either board have ever even mentioned this kid.
What we do know is that Warrior and Gibbs are like brothers and have always wanted to play together in college. I'm pretty shocked that Mansell and Kipp Adams suddenly have the scoop on Gibbs and his 2* cousin that went to high school 800 miles away

For Adams and Mansell to react so strongly, somebody must be giving them a pretty strong indication that UGA just made a big move.
Rusty said they first heard about this kid a couple weeks ago but that the word at the time was that he was going to Tennessee. Rusty has sources on the UGA staff. He didn't make it up.

Rusty has been reliable and conservative in the past, I'll agree with that. Kipp Adams, OTOH, is the guy that started all of the Warrior to Auburn nonsense right before signing day. Nigel and his mom flat out said that was made up and that Nigel was a silent to Butch for a looong time before NSD.

I wouldn't say that it's fabricated just because you hadn't heard about it from a mod. This is the first a lot of people heard about this situation.
I forget whether it was Rusty or Kipp but one of them said this kid could have transferred anywhere in the SEC. Probably not due to talent, but due to who he would seemingly bring with him.
ETA: Also, I think it's important to note that Breon Dixon (UGA Commit) is really close with Gibbs as well.

Dueling cousins? This is a very SEC recruitment.

Kirby is playing chess with Butch. I like our chances
Let's see what the call sheet says for Butch to do

to be fair, none of the mods on UGA boards had mentioned him either until today.

Fortenberry says Vols are in good shape and that Gibbs has a much closer relationship with Warrior than the other cousin.

It's the crazy season for recruiting.

Yeah, I'm not buying that we were ever after the unranked cousin that no one has ever heard of prior to today either. And now that this guy is going to ride the bench at UGA, that warrants Mansel being shocked if Gibbs doesn't end up at UGA? Ok. I buy it even less with us having the other cousin whose expected to be a super star in our secondary and one that Gibbs is very close with.

You do realize that this doesn't all operate in a vacuum, right? Rusty isn't basing this purely off of that one guy being at UGA. Like it or not, Gibbs has grown up in GA and lives 40 minutes down the road from Athens. It was always thought that Tennessee held the family edge because of the Carter/Warrior connection but that is simply no longer the case. This was a big win for UGA in his recruitment and it really levels the playing field and, given that it's Mel Tucker and Kirby Smart versus Butch and Willie Martinez, I think I like our chances a lot more at this point than, say, a week ago

K.
Well, that's great and all guy, but I'll take the 2 coaches who just beat Georgia with inferior talent over the guy that's never been a HC at any program in his entire professional career.
Eta: After you get done consulting your magic 8 ball on whether or not Kirby ends up being successful or an absolute bust as a HC, let me get the winning lottery numbers for the next mega millions jack pot.

When was the last time Kirby & Mel lost to UT as coaches?

When was the last time Kirby Smart won a game that he was the head coach in?
I'll wait.

When was the last time Kirby Smart lost a game that he was the head coach in? When was the last time Kirby Smart lost to Tennessee at all? (The answer is 1999 when he was a Grad Assistant at UGA)
