That was from 247Sport's Barton Simmons. Here is his free article:

I saw. I was commenting on his fairly obvious reasoning for cutting off number 4

One of those was a definite drop, the other was a little dicey.. From the angle it looks like it hit his hands the same time as the DB was ramming into him. And then a throwaway, but followed that with an absolutely perfect fade route.

Thanks for the posts.

They only ranked 8 of the 18 on that article.

What kind of medal do they get for 4th place? Nickel?

Honestly, I just copied the 1st three guys from their list, b/c McIlwain was on there. I didn't even look for the other SEC guys on that list initially.

He's doing well on the camp.

Here's film of his 7v7 drill today.

Here's a link to his highlights.

I watched the 7v7 drill, he looked good, but I haven't watched any of his highlights or film, so I can't speak to his legitness. However, since he got an invite to the Elite 11 Finals, is committed to Texas, and Trent Dilfer has him as #1 right now after 2 days, I think yes, he must be pretty good.

While that may all be true, they haven't had the best of luck with QB recruits lately.

Devante Kincade did all these except commit to Texas.

He's currently our third string QB.

Chode Kelly was Elite 11 as well. Y'all got a few of those.

I cant stress enough how completely irrelevant the Elite 11 is in showing how good a QB will be in college. Generally about half of the Elite 11 finalists are garbage in college. Even some MVPs amount to nothing. Neal Burcham was coMVP with Jameis Winston back in 2011 and the dude ended up at SMU and looks like he's 3rd string going into his 4th year there.

It's something fun for the kids and it allows them to get a little coaching from guys who have been there before, but you're right in that it's a horrible measure as to how a QB will preform in college.

I don't think anyone is saying that the Elite 11 is absolute in predicting future success, no site, ranking, and camp could do that. For every Matt Stafford, there's always a Jacob Park.
