And we're obviously hitting the DE position hard this year, after striking out with Williams.... Lawson and Liner are gonna be electric DE combo in the future.
I still think Liner plays DT. Kid is playing at 277 right now. He'll put on some weight in a college strength program

you're probably right.... my impression of what VanGorder is gonna do on the DL is have less defined roles... for instance, we're not gonna have strongside/weakside DEs... we're not gonna have a nose guard anymore (whitaker's dropped weight).

Yep, and I was probably the only one on AE (before I got banned) saying the kid was never going to play. He played my HS in the playoffs and was the softest 250+ kid I've ever seen. He wasn't even their best player in their backfield. The people hyping him were claiming he was good because he could do a backflip. So stupid...
I think people saw that highlight tape of his and say a 270 or so lb kid with what looked like pretty good moves for a RB, and then hearing things like he could do a backflip, that kinda pushed it over the edge on what people thought his potential was. I thought he would have been an amazing FB, but didn't realize he just didn't have the toughness for it.

fixed just a little. I was skeptical because it was a last minute signing, but after seeing some of his tape had some hope. The guy was a marshmallow and had no heart, and that I did not know at all.

I still don't see us having DE's the size of 3-4 DE's, where those guys are upwards of 290 or so. I just don't see Liner player outside. After a year or two with Yox, I think he'll be right around 300. We may use some of those guys on the outside in running/goal line situations though, but I still think our DE's won't be much bigger than 265/270.

Note from 247 on Carl Lawson as a top camp performer in Charlotte:
quote:
2- Carl Lawson, DE, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton
Lawson, an Auburn commit whose stock has risen this spring, had a big showing in one-on-ones, where he virtually could not be blocked. Lawson is a grown man physically and his hand quickness and first step is elite. That was obvious throughout the competitive portion of the camp Sunday.

Sounds like he ends up a 5 star

I am very excited about Lawson to say the least. He is blowing up every camp he is attending.

Nero is a relative of mine. He's going to need a lot of help learning techniques. He's play in high school is based purely of athleticism and being bigger than his competition. He's a very raw talent and will need a redshirt year.
Shy of a disastrous year injury wise, I'd be shocked if any of our DL signees played this year. We're basically 3 deep, at least, at every spot across the line. We've got 7 DT's that will play this year - Whitaker, Carter, Wright, Blackson, Sigler, Niles and Travis.

Mike Farrell said Liner and Lawson will be 2 of the most discussed when talking about new 5 stars in the upcoming rankings update

Well with Liner flipping to Bama you can count on him going 5 star.
