I have high hopes for Dee Hart. I mean just think all of the ballers in FLA and he is the player of the year. He was the overall Gatorade player of the year as well right? Then wasnt he MVP of the Army All American game. Hope he has what ever Frank Gore has that made him get over 3 ACL injuries.

Man it has to be tough for the coaches to try and get all of them touches. I think the one guy who they dont have to think about is Fowler. Just give it to him late in games but Hart and Yeldon are so versatile that they need to be out in space. I think we will see a lot of screens this year.

I think the only thing that will really hold Hart back from contributing significantly is if he doesn't trust his knee. He is a great cutter(pun intended) with his vision and he needs to have full belief in his knees to make those cuts.

I think he did really well it on A-Day, although T Rey has pointed out he did look unsure of his knee at times.

And BTW did anyone see the pic Kanye tweeted of KK? Damn...

From the AJC:

quote:

There are rumors that if Henry flips from UGA to Alabama, it would create a domino effect of top running backs switching schools – like you often see among QB prospects, including Jones going from Alabama to UGA.

“Yes, I’ve been hearing all that stuff, and it’s just rumors,” Jones told the AJC on Tuesday night. “People are trying to get me to go over to Georgia. I’m not worried about all the rumors. I’m 100-percent committed to Alabama.”

The 5-foot-8, 192-pound Jones went to Alabama football camp last week, worked out even though he was already committed, and met with Saban. “Coach Saban said he was happy that I worked out because some of the other recruits that showed up were just chilling,” Jones said. “He told me to keep working hard and that he’s looking forward to coaching me next year.”

When Jones was at Alabama, he also heard other recruits talking about Henry. “I don’t know his exact situation, but some kids were saying that [Henry] doesn’t care if he plays linebacker or fullback. He just wants some playing time, rather than sitting over there waiting at Georgia.”

What if Henry decides to go to Alabama to play running back? Would that make Jones have second thoughts? “I mean, I would wonder about it,” he said. “But I’m not really fazed. I’m not concerned what he does because there’s competition everywhere. If he comes to Alabama, then we’ll work hard and compete together. There’s competition at every school.”

For the record, UGA has been keeping in touch with Jones, along with Clemson, Auburn and LSU.

And Tyren’s teammate at Walton High School, offensive lineman Brandon Kublanow, recently committed to UGA and is trying to convince Jones to join him with the Bulldogs. Then again, Jones is trying to talk Kublanow into attending Alabama. “We always joke back and forth about it,” Jones said.

While Jones says he remains loyal to Alabama, he still intends to take a couple of official visits to other schools. Before Jones went public with his commitment to Alabama, he made it known to the coaches. “I told them that I plan on taking a couple of other official visits just so I can get out there and see other campuses I haven’t seen yet … they said they were fine with that,” said Jones, who hasn’t picked any schools to visit yet.

“Before I make any decision on where else I’m going to visit, I’m going to talk it over again with [Alabama] to let them know what I’m doing.”

Last year as a junior, Jones was the leading rusher in the state’s largest classification, helping Walton reach the state championship game, where it lost to Grayson.

Bakersfield (Calif.) Liberty long snapper Cole Mazza committed to UCLA on May 11 over offers from fellow Pac-12 members Utah and Washington State. That didn’t stop the 6-foot-2, 241-pound Mazza from camping at Alabama last weekend.

“I went to the Alabama specialists camp for long snappers, kickers, and punters. That was my second time camping at Alabama- my first time was last year,” said Mazza. “They were really interested in me last year, so I decided to come back down again this year even though I was committed to UCLA- because I was so interested.”

Mazza’s performance earned him a meeting with Nick Saban and the distinction of becoming the first snapper to receive an offer from the Alabama head coach in his seventeen years on the job.

“I snapped really good during the camp and Coach Saban told me in his office that they were going to offer a long snapper within the next two days after a staff meeting. The next day I called him and he told me he was going to offer me.

“I felt honored because he told me he’s never offered a long snapper before in his whole entire career. I felt really honored to be the first, especially with them being the defending national champions.”

The offer changes things for the inland California resident, who now says he slightly favors the Crimson Tide over UCLA and will have a final decision by the end of the week.

“Right now, I’m still committed to UCLA, but I’m kind of leaning a little bit more towards Alabama maybe. I love the place down there, the lifestyle they have, the campus- everything about Tuscaloosa I really like. Coach Saban only gave me a week to respond with my decision. At the end of this week, I’m going to call him and tell him what I’m going to do.”

Mazza plans to weigh a number of factors in the coming days, taking a look at the perceived pros and cons of each program.

“It’s really a multitude of things- obviously they’re great schools and both great places to be. Alabama is far away from where I live in California, so that’s something I would have to deal with, but it would be worth it to win a national championship. I’m just trying to put all the factors into one and make my decision.”

Mazza has a grade of 76 from 247Sports, making him a two-star prospect and the no. 1 long snapper in the nation.

South Panola (MS) High School class of 2013 defensive back Antonio Conner talks recruiting.

quote:

Name: Antonio Conner
Classification: 2013
High School: South Panola (MS) High School
Position: Defensive Back
HT: 6-1, WT: 205
Scout.com Ranking: 5-Star
Schools Of Interest: Nation-wide interest from schools

Now a five-star prospect in the 2013 class, the attention that Conner is receiving started in the 10th grade but his talent showed a couple of years prior to that.

"I was in my 8th grade year and playing quarterback and safety and when we had games, some of the (high school) coaches would stay over and watch the games," said Conner. "Then, at the end of my 8th grade year coach (Lance Pogue) came to talk to me. He talked to me about being a starter for the high school team. That would be putting a lot on me but he told me that they needed a safety. I talked to my parents about it and they were cool about it. So, I went ahead and gave it a shot and everything went good."

He wound up being one of the top tacklers on the team as a freshman.

"I think I had the third most tackles and 5 picks," said Conner.

A year and a half later his hard work paid off.

"The (scholarship) offers started coming in the middle of my 10th grade year," said Conner. "Ole Miss and Alabama offered first. Ole Miss was the first one to offer. Alabama offered next.

"(Former Ole Miss head) Coach (Houston) Nutt told me that I was one of his top guys and that he was offering me right now. I told him thank you and that I appreciated it a lot.

"(Alabama head) Coach (Nick) Saban was talking to me and told me that he has coached in the NFL and had a couple of guys who had left to go to the NFL. He told me that he felt it fit me at Alabama."

Since those two offers he has received numerous other offers, including LSU, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Virginia.

You would think with the recruiting attention he is receiving it would be tough to deal with his academics and football but he's got it organized.

"When I go to school I focus on my work, then when football season comes I focus on my work and football," said Conner.

He handles the recruiting aspect of it by taking unofficial visits to the schools that he's most interested in.

"I take (unofficial) visits and see how the coaching staffs are and how it is at the school and to see if I would be happy there for three or four years," said Conner. "I have visited (Mississippi) State, Alabama, Ole Miss. I am still looking to go to LSU."

While he hasn't removed any schools from his list, he hopes to do that soon.

"I am planning on cutting it down to five or six schools," said Conner.

It appears the schools will come from one conference.

"I'm basically looking at schools in the SEC," said Conner.

Numerous 2014 prospects have already emerged in Alabama and Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons saw the ones that will likely be ranked very high on Scout early in the week.

quote:

After attending the football camp at Auburn most of the day Sunday, I hit the road to see some of the top 2014 prospects in the state of Alabama.
Here are some notes from the road.

Terrell Bush plays defensive tackle at Tuscaloosa Academy and the 6-foot-2, 292 pound soon-to-be junior is hearing from numerous schools. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Nebraska, and some others are sending mail Bush's way and he hopes to camp at some of those schools this summer. No offers have come his way yet, but he appears to be on many radars early.

Auburn was first to offer athlete Ronnie Clark out of Calera. Since the Auburn Tigers have offered, the Clemson Tigers have as well. Clark is a 6-foot-3, 210 pound athlete that could play safety or outside linebacker on the next level. He plays some wide receiver too on the high school level, but defense will be his home in college. He has already visited Auburn and he will be visiting Clemson this weekend. Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, and some others are showing some interest. Clark is originally from Louisiana, so he did not grow up a fan of Alabama or Auburn.

Hoover is one top programs in the state of Alabama and they will have one of the top cornerbacks in America in 2014. Marlon Humphrey is a 6-foot-1, 175 pound prospect and he has size, speed, ball skills, and he can play physical on an island. He is the son of former Alabama star running back Bobby Humphrey and he has changed to number 26 this year like his dad wore. Humphrey told Scout that Alabama, Clemson, North Carolina, and Tennessee were offers he knew of at this time. At the end of the day, he will be able to name his school. Most feel the Crimson Tide will be extremely tough to beat.

Bo Scarborough needs no introduction. He is a 6-foot-2, 221 pound athlete out of Northridge in the heart of Tuscaloosa and he is already a national prospect. He tore his ACL during the eighth game in 2011 and he is about 95-percent healthy now. The doctor has cleared Scarborough to go full speed. A list of schools have offered and Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Michigan are schools Scarborough named as schools of interest. He is set on playing running back too. Some schools have mentioned athlete to him, but if schools talk defense, he is not going to listen at this time.

Jaevon Walton is the son of former Alabama and NFL defensive lineman John Copeland. He started at Edna Karr in Louisiana in 2011, but moved back to Tuscaloosa with his father in 2012. He will be playing linebacker and running back for Tuscaloosa Academy this year. John Copeland is the defensive coordinator there. Walton has already camped at Alabama this summer and he will likely return in July. Miami has invited the 6-foot, 230 pound rising junior to camp and he plans to attend later this month.

Florida State offered Tre Williams when he was a freshman and they were the first school to offer the star out of St. Paul's Episcopal. Alabama and Auburn offered FSU, then Clemson, LSU, Ole Miss, and some others offered the 6-foot-3, 230 pound linebacker this spring. Williams has equal interest in the in-state schools and he plans to take his time with the process. LSU is in the top group for Williams with Alabama and Auburn. Williams will be one of the top linebackers in the country in 2014.

Alabama has long since been expected to focus heavily on offensive tackle in the 2013 recruiting class, and to that end took the verbal commitment of junior college offensive tackle Leon Brown this past weekend. Brown was quoted with the following, per Matt Scalici:

quote:

"I talked to Coach Stoutland and Coach Saban and they both said they were proud about my decision and couldn't wait to get me down there. I play left tackle- they like the way I play and feel like I have a chance to come in and contribute.

Basically, I wanted to put all my dedication towards my upcoming season at junior college. I'm most likely going to take my official visit to Alabama during the season. I'll probably just take that visit to Alabama and not look around or take visits to other schools."

Originally hailing from Maryland, Brown played offensive tackle and defensive tackle at Parkdale High School, and was generally a lightly-recruited prospect coming out of the prep ranks. Despite the frame, he picked up only offers from New Mexico and Marshall, and instead chose to go the JUCO route. He enrolled at ASA College in downtown Brooklyn, and has since picked up offers from Alabama, Ole Miss, Kansas, and a handful of other programs. To be sure, though, Brown is not exactly a highly-coveted recruit, and outside of 'Bama the offer list is relatively lean.

Having established that, however, it's easy to see what appeals to Alabama here. Brown is something of a project, but he does have the natural tools that you cannot teach, namely a long frame, great arm length, and obvious quickness. Playing in a pass-happy offense in high school did not help his cause, but he will enroll early and while he will need work, he at least has the physical tools necessary to be a quality tackle in the SEC. As a general matter, Nick Saban and company have only added JUCO signees at clear positions of need who they believe can contribute immediately, and it is highly unlikely that they would have accepted Brown's commitment had they not felt he could be a contributor when he arrives on campus.

Just as important, though, as mentioned earlier, 'Bama has a clear need at offensive tackle, and with the imminent departures of Barrett Jones and D.J. Fluker following the 2012 season, the quality depth at tackle suddenly becomes thin as the Tide moves into the 2013 season. Adding a JUCO tackle such a Brown hopefully helps create short-term depth, and even with Brown in tow 'Bama looks to pursue other tackle prospects.

Moving forward, it would perhaps be prudent to keep an eye on Brown, given that he has never visited Tuscaloosa (Alabama offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland did, however, visit him in Brooklyn) and that he has no real ties to the state of Alabama. Those two factors alone could create the possibility of him reneging on his commitment at some point in the future, but for the time being there is no real cause for concern, and admittedly even if he did have some concerns over distance, it would likely take a firm offer from another major program to have him legitimately reconsider his commitment to the Tide.

Brown becomes the seventeenth commitment of the 2013 Alabama recruiting class.
