Jason Smith makes plays, not anyone is doubting that, but some are doubting his ability to play quarterback on the next level. He is looking at schools that will give him a chance to play that position.
quote:
"All I want is a chance to play quarterback," Jason Smith told Scout. "Some doubt my accuracy and some doubt other things, so I want to go out and show everyone that I can compete at quarterback."
Compete is a key word there.
Smith is not saying he will not make the move if quarterback does not work out for him, but he does want to compete for a shot to play that position on the next level.
"Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, and Mississippi State have all offered me and told me that I could have a chance at quarterback. I just have to show them that I can throw the ball well and play that position in college.
"I am a very versatile quarterback that can run and make big plays, so I would love to play that position in college. If it doesn't workout for me, then I will be OK with being moved to wide receiver. I just want to choose a school that I know will give me a fair chance."
The four-star athlete out of Mobile (Ala.) McGill-Toolen camped at Auburn Sunday and he plans to camp at Alabama and Ole Miss later this summer.
After those camps are complete, a decision is likely to come not too much later.
"I want to commit to someone early in the season," Smith said, "I just want to get it out of the way. I do not care about depth at the position or anything like that. I just want to play for good coaches and commit early so I can focus on a state championship."

Spokane (Wash.) Mead outside linebacker and tight end Danny Mattingly talked about his summer schedule after the Oregon NFTC…
quote:
Spokane (Wash.) Mead four-star outside linebacker Danny Mattingly showed up to the NFTC in Eugene as the top rated prospect from the region.
“It went great, I worked hard all day,” said Mattingly. “I split time with linebacker and tight end, it went well today.”
Mattingly has seen his recruitment explode in the past few months, landing offers from major programs all over the country. He talked about what the recruiting experience has been like.
“It’s been crazy man, busy talking to people,” said Mattingly. “I am having fun and just trying to keep my priorities straight. Finish up well in school and focus on football in summer.”
So are any schools sticking out for Mattingly? Any schools likely to get an official visit?
“Well, I visited Oregon yesterday and it was something else,” said Mattingly. “It blew my mind.”
Mattingly also pointed out the programs that are recruiting him the hardest.
“I’d say Arizona State and Oklahoma,” said Mattingly.
The 6'5" 225lbs prospect has already taken visits to Oregon, Washington and Washington State and is headed back east for some visits at the end of the month.
“I am going to visit Alabama, Notre Dame and Oklahoma before coming home” said Mattingly.
Mattingly plans on taking his time to make a decision, but also left open the chance he could decide at any point.
“I could (decided early), but really just once I find the school that pops out in my mind then I’ll make a decision,” said Mattingly.

Wasn't there a kid that wanted to play QB, maybe from Al, a few years back and went OOS or something because UA he would not. I actually think he may have commited to us and decommited because theother school convinced him he would be a QB. I could be worng though.

Yup electric with the ball in his hands, played QB for Prattville and staff and him made a joint decision to part so he could go to GT and be an option QB, he will do great things in the ACC at GT

TIFWIW but here it comes
1: Tunsil, don't be surprised to see him bring the family back. While UF still seems to be in the lead UA made up a decent amount if real estate with camp. He really likes Stoutland.
2: RN, Bama still feeling good. Like 95% good. LSU and Clemson are both in his ear saying things about how no one should make him play outside the position and scheme of his choice. So with that being said RN commitment lingers on KS. He has a true relationship with him and ultimately I was told that because of that Bama is a virtual lock.
3: don't look too deep into the RF stuff. Kid is handling things pretty well but everyone has an opinion. Still firm to Bama and he knows the value of being in a Bama scheme.
4: watch for numbers game to be an issue again. We are the prettiest girl at the prom right now and a lot of people want to dance. The think that 2-4 players already have been warned of possible Greyshirting.
Hope y'all enjoy this and it came from a pretty good source inside the program. Again TIFWIW

any word on the long-snapper?
Posted on 6/12/12 at 8:39 am to Herman Frisco
Yes in camp his speed in a 15yd snap set a national record at .64 vs Reid Ferguson LSU commit at LS who speed was set at .78. Sorry Saban will always out evaluate Miles. Even at long snapper.

I didnt want to go to any of the Ohio schools. My parents told me they would pay for any school as long as it was cheaper than Miami of Ohio. I applied to Bama and Colorado. It snowed a frick ton my senior year of HS, and I decided I didnt want to see any more snow for a while. Decided to go to Bama before I saw the campus. Luckily its amazingly beautiful and I loved it.

I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.

Did you just pick Bama and Colorado out of a hat?
I was just wondering if there was something that drew you to apply to UA. I'm always fascinated with people from out of region who come to the south and brave the stereotypes.

My best friend growing up moved from Birmingham to Cleveland, so he was a Bama fan. I read about it in the big Princeton review book, and it sounded like I would like it. I got in, and it fit my parents fiscal limitations.
My HS sends 3-5 kids to Boulder every year, and my dad went to school in Colorado at Western State.
