do you guys have issues with offering ST players as well?

I just don't get some of the people on the LSUrb. People freak the frick out whenever a snapper or a kicker is offered.

As if these guys aren't needed.

Go ahead and not offer any type of decent ST player and you'll have Kige reborn trying to snap the ball to your holder who was a walk-on from an all-black school.

Ridiculous.

We haven't offered a long snapper in more than 15 years. I just posted a thread on some Alabama boards. We'll see how it's received.

Im not a huge fan of offering a long snapper. I think you can find a walkon or someone on the roster to do it. I have no problem offering a kicker.

"I went for their special teams and kicking camp," Cole Mazza said of Alabama. "It was good. I did pretty good. Coach Saban pulled me in his office and told me they were going to have a staff meeting. They were going to decide if they were going to offer me or another guy. I spoke to coach Saban on Sunday, and he told me they were offering me.

"I am verbally committed to UCLA right now," Mazza said. "I am considering Alabama now. They gave me a timeline to consider. They only gave me a week. They said after a week there may not be a scholarship offer available.

Those quotes are interesting. You don't normally see that level of candidness from recruits.

Seems the staff was very specific and forthcoming with him about where he stood and what they wanted. I can appreciate that.

Well, you hear recruits allude to the fact that it was very business-like and the staff was upfront with them, but I just haven't seen many specific quotes that gave good examples of that sentiment.

I knew they existed, just never heard a recruit admit to one before.

Time limits explain a lot of the confusion about "commitable offers." For example, that kid will show an Alabama offer on his profile until signing day, although it won't be committable anymore in about a week.

Not a fan of offering snappers in general because like Trey said you can usually find adequate ones who will walk-on. I guess we either couldn't find an adequate one to walk-on or the staff feels this kid is so good he's worth a scholly. It is surprising though.

Long Snapping Coach Chris Rubio's Comments

One would think Cole would come into this camp being nervous being he is the first five star soph. He wasnt and ended up dominating the final day. Shows great poise and ball is on a rope. Could snap at the next level right now. The best part is that he is a hard worker that won't rest on his laurels.
For the first time in the history of Rubio Long Snapping, a sophomore has earned a FIVE STAR ranking. This is unprecedented and very well deserved. Cole is ready RIGHT NOW for the next level. Put it this way, if he was in the class of 2012 I would put him #3 right behind Daly and Ferguson (and both those guys have full offers). Form is exceptional, he is strong, his work ethic is unparralled and, what one of the best things about him....he snaps the ball angry and very, very hard. He is one of the rare Long Snappers I have had in the past ten years that looks like he is out for blood when he snaps. I absolutely love it. Cole could set records if he continues to work hard and let nothing get in his way.

1. Do you really want your snapper to snap the ball angry?
2. What kind of records are ther for Long Snappers?

How good would you have to be to deserve an offer though?

A ranter just told me that is Denard was LSU's QB on 1/9 they would have won the game.

He better be very accurate as a snapper if he snaps it that hard and on a rope. If he misses it may go 30 yards the wrong way.
