I keep seeing people talking about recruiting services vs another one. This is a simple look at my evaluation of how they rank players.
So for you recruiting service junkies here is a comparison between Rivals and ESPN and their loyality to their games they sponser in regards to how they rank players.
Rivals sponsors the Army All American Game
ESPN sponsors the Under Armor All American Game
Rivals 2012 top 25
65% of their top 25 played in the Army game of those 75% were not in ESPN top 25
35% of their top 25 played in the Under Armor game of those 89% were in ESPN top 25
ESPN 2012 top 25
72% of their top 25 played in the Under Armor game of those 56% were not in the Rivals top 25
28% of their top 25 played in the Arny game of those 57% were ranked in the top 25
There is also a 52% chance if one service ranks you in the top 25 the other will not.
These rankings were final rankings prior to the Jan games. Alot of these players moved up in the ranking after they accepted their invite to a game.
So my point is that both of these services seem to rank players based on them accepting invites to play in their sponsored games. ESPN seems to be a little more biased than Rivals but both can not be that far apart of their rankings, unless the ranking is not based on evaluations but inflating their rankings to make their All American game seem to have the better talent. Watch for Scout to do the same now that they are linked to the Semper Fi game. Maybe 247 will be the only one without a bias since they have no tie to ALL American games yet.
