Shepard is a good player, but far from elite. I see him playing the role of Drew Davis. Being forced into action because we don't have anyone else capable of playing SEC football. Hopefully, CyKo can lock down the LT spot for the next two years. However, we need to build some serious depth there.
Oh I don't think Shepherd is elite at all, but I think he could be decent 2 year starter. There's is always gonna be a "weak link", but's still good enough to start. It was Steen this past year, and likely Steen again this year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 4-5 taken this year, Bama needed OTs and OGs this past cycle, and they didn't do enough to quell those needs. I think think most of the interior guys Bama has now are more Centers than Guards. Some can play both, some can't. I think Bama puts physicality at a premium at Guard over being a pure technician like many Centers.

I just saw the thread. He doesn't have an offer and is apparently rated as a 2-star prospect.
Sounds like BOL tried to one up TideSport's article on Marqui Hawkins. Have a whole article/thread on a guy likely not to receive an offer...

what about arie kouandjio? is he seen as strictly as inside guy now, or could he play RT?

I wouldn't be surprised if Arie is headed for a medical. He just can't seem to get healthy.

He could still play outside, but I think his best chance is inside. He couldn't jump Shepherd at RT last Spring, which I guess could say a lot. If it wasn't for his injury, I could see him possibly pushing Steen at RG.

From what I understand, Arie is being looked at as a future guard, but coming out of high school I thought he would make a great RT. He has extremely long arms and he has good, but not great footwork. He may kick outside once Fluker leaves, but I think Brandon Hill, with proper coaching could be one hell of a RT.

Arie is just part of the process

Arie is a R-shirt Freshman. He has plenty of time to get healthy and earn a starting spot.

Yeah looks like Florida, think he is visiting this weekend.

We are set at RB for now. We need elite talent on the O-Line and QB in this class.

I'm over Taylor, I want Keith Ford out of Texas if they go after another RB.
A Florida back playing in Texas, that just screams greatness...

This kid can put on 40 pounds easy and still run a 4.8 - We all have to remember just like Elias he is 16 years old. I saw him play 3 times this year and he was dominate. Just like all the other recruits they have a ton of size and speed and talent and with a great weight room program like Bama he could be a dominate player in the SEC.

Florida. I think Tenpenny will be our only RB in this class, considering what's coming down the pipe for 2014.

Assuming we get Scarborough, and possibly Racean Thomas, we will be fine at RB for awhile.
I agree that with Tenpenny we could be done with the 2013 RB class. However, in the 2009 class we had Trent committed for a while and pulled Eddie Lacy late. You can't argue that we didn't do the right thing in taking them both.

I don't know if Bo and Rock will be in the same class, let alone play the same position. Bo is getting bigger and Rock may be behind Yearby as a RB target.
Now I could see Rock and Yearby as a RB class, with Bo as an Athlete. But Yearby's talented teammate and fellow RB, Dalvin Cooke, is sending out early vibes of wanting to play with Yearby(Yearby has Bama on top early).
Damn good predicament to be in...

yea we have to get that kid from northport next year ive seen him play before he is a very good football player but to me i think he might out grow the RB position.
Posted on 2/13/12 at 8:54 pm to TideSaint
Not to mention that Class of 2014 All-American RB Sonny Michel, from FL, favors Alabama right now. RB is not a position to worry about.

I havent heard of the kid from florida he is better than the kid from northport?

If Alabama can grab Nkemdiche and Hackenberg, I will be extremely happy. Hackenberg jumped 7 other Pro-Style QBs in the latest rankings and is poised to overtake Browne as the top QB in the country. He may not put up comparable numbers to Browne, but he is more SEC ready than Browne with his senior season to go.
