I really hope Smart isn't our next HC, at least without him getting some experience elsewhere first.

Kirby would be a PHENOMENAL HC

I was just making up for Friday night. Only got 4 hours, then went and played golf. Feel like I can jump over a building right now.

Anyone else see the thread on here comparing Bama and LSU classes? One LSU fan posted in there it was at best a push for the 09 class

I would be pretty shocked if he was still coaching at 70.

Spurrier is almost 70 and he was never a worker like Saban.

And? That kind of helps prove my point. People can't work as hard as they once could as they get older. Spurrier is extremely laid back, and he also took a year off from coaching after resigning with the Skins. Saban is the epitome of a type A personality. He will never be a delegator. If he starts to see his performance slipping because he can't work as hard as he used to, he will probably go ahead and retire.

I have no idea why we'd want Kamara over Henry. I don't know how many small shifty running backs we have to see fail before we cut it out. Even if he's good, is he better than Jones/Tenpenny? No. And even if we move him to slot, those slot guys are easy to find. Henry at least brings something different to the table. I think he's a take and right now, I think we may like him better. We'll see how it shakes out though

Kamara may be better than Jones and Tenpenny! He is not a scat back at 5'10 190 which is the same size Ingram was in High School. At one of the camps Luginbill was at he said that the kid was as "Special" talent. So say we keep him at his current weight and move him to slot. Looks like is going to work out well for Christian Jones. I have no problem with that. As far as Henry from what I read he is just a big athlete and not good at RB at all. He will never play RB in college. Or rather wont be successful at a major program at that position. He shows his athleticism at camps at the opening but struggles when they have 7 on 7. Also looking at his film for someone who is 250 plus pounds he tends to bounce it to the outside a lot and doesnt run too many people over. Cant blame him though with that 4.4 speed. Also I noticed that it seems that all of his weight is at his upper body where most great running backs have big legs he has thin legs and thighs. He looks like a WR running. Just my observation.

you're funny

Based on the fact that he has both been an integral part of Bama's best staff since the Bear's days and having 1st hand knowledge and experience working as a mentor under Saban, don't kid yourself and think all he does is "run Saban's defense" every year he is bestowed more and more responsibility, I would even go so far as to say he is the most trusted DC Saban has ever had at any program, just because of the situation of Saban's age and the fact that he won't jump elsewhere. I'll give you a great example, you think Saban wanted to take Lance Thompson back on staff? After the way he left Saban high and dry and napalmed his bridges back to Ttown? No way in hell, however it was Kirby's call to bring him back and Saban OKed it, WHY? Because he trusts Kirby and allowed him to make the decision.

Base what on? My opinion that Saban is a type A personality who likes to have total control of every situation? I love him as a coach, and having met him before I can say that he is actually a pretty friendly guy when he isn't in a working environment, but he is definitely not the type who is going to sit idly by and let other people run things. If he starts to feel like he isn't able to do what he knows he needs to do to run a dominant program, he won't keep at it just for the sake of continuing to coach football.
