Would Kirby Smith leave for Arkansas?

Connor is just more open to leaving the state than most S. Panola guys usually are, also certain HC's sometimes make promises they break by accepting a commitment at the same position, don't think he is scared of the competition

You are more likely now to see Kirby stay put and become Bama's HC once Saban decides to retire his HC job and move on to be involved in football operations

The thing is that Henry is more of an elite athlete who doesn't do anything better at rb than Jones or Tenpenny. Henry has much more potential, even at other positions. Those 'maybe rb, maybe slot' guys don't work for us. Henry can, at least, be a big body back or play h back

But we're hearing the same thing on Conner

I think he would. It's a top level SEC job with elite budget. That's a job I wouldn't blame him for taking

Any thing is possible. He could be offered a pile of money, be tired of waiting, thing that Saban is gonna stay longer than they have previously discussed, etc. any of those happen and he considers a good HC job like Arky. Multiple of those happen and he might take it.
That said, as of today he still believes Bama is his when Saban leaves. He's still young enough and in a good enough situation to be patient. I think if he's still there in 2016 or 2017 he'll be named HC. (of course, I hope Saban stays more than four more users though).

Agreed that he would almost be a lock for Hback seems like at Bama at his size, just not sure staff would pursue, see it is not just about him switching 100% staff would have to pursue although it would bring our star average up hehe
I can't believe we are having our 1st disagreement Sand
I hope you know you still da man and our residential funny man

Have you heard yet about him being upset about the support staff etc letting down Brassell? I heard a tidbit about it last night but he wasn't sure how it would affect Connor yet, but they were close, and may have been the nail in the coffin for Ole Miss

Alabama lands 13th commitment
Tony Tsoukalas
TideSports.com Recruiting Analyst
The University of Alabama gained its 13th commitment for the class of 2013, when Pensacola, Fla., defensive tackle Darius Paige told Alabama coaches Wednesday he would be attending UA.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound defender had to sleep on it, but after a discussion with Alabama coaches the day before, he was ready to commit.
"Coaches told me Tuesday that they wanted me to commit," Paige said. "I thought about it overnight, and I came to the decision that I was going to commit."
Paige said he chose Alabama because he felt comfortable with the school after visiting the campus and talking with the UA coaches.
"They are a winning program, and they made me feel at home." Paige said.
Earlier in the year, Paige was able to talk with UA coaches who like his combination of size and speed and expect him to develop into a force on Alabama's defensive line in the near future.
"They said I'm a pretty athletic guy," Paige said. "They want me to come down and dominate."
Paige is no stranger to Alabama's 3-4 defensive scheme, as it is the same one he uses at Washington High school. Paige said Alabama coaches intend to keep him at the nosegaurd position at the next level.
The talented defender compared himself to former Alabama greats Marcel Dareus and Josh Chapman. Paige said his athleticism matches that of Dareus, and his ability to shut down the run is similar to Chapman.
Paige has had plenty of opportunities to watch the Alabama defense and is excited to become a part of it once he finishes his senior season.
"Their defense is pretty good," Paige said. "I like that it is balls-to-the-walls all the time, it's an excellent defense. I definitely see myself fitting into it."
Paige might be committed to Alabama, but he said the recruiting process is far from over for him. The latest UA commit now plans to focus his attention on getting other recruits to come to Alabama and build upon the 2013 class. Paige will be back in Tuscaloosa in June for one of Alabama's summer camps.
"I'm going to try to recruit other people to come to Alabama," Paige said. "I'm just going to tell them, it's a great place to be. It's a winning program, and you can't go wrong with picking them."

I was told after the 2010 season that Saban was going to retire in 3 or 4 years. Considering who I heard this from, I have no reason to doubt that what he said is the truth. Things may have changed a bit though. Either way, I don't see him coaching for more than 5 more years. Personally, I think it would be a smart move on Kirby's part (see what I did there?) to wait it out and see what happens. There isn't a better job in the country right now than Bama. Some, like Texas, may have more potential for success, but the structure is in place in Tuscaloosa for him to take over for Saban and hopefully not miss a beat.

Yeah, more just he feels that if Ole Miss couldn't make it happen with Snoop when he was their most promising player then what are they doing. Tony is a brighter kid than Snoop though, so it shouldn't be a problem, but I've said all along our depth we be a bigger issue than the overstated USP pipeline
On Henry, it's purely a personnel decision with me. He adds things we don't have or have less of and Kamara is another tweener and we have plenty of them. Plus there are several Kamaras a year, players like Henry are unique, even if you don't know exactly what to do with them

I want Henry bad, but not at rb. He would be a filthy jack or HB. Hell put 30lbs on him and he's a DE.

My big concern with Henry is the fact that he seems very set on playing RB in college and does not appear to be at all open to a position change. He may be the next Brandon Jacobs for all I know, but chances are he is never going to effectively play RB beyond high school at his current size. I just wouldn't want to use up a scholarship on him, try moving him to TE, H-back, or LB, and watch him transfer to a school that will let him play RB.

I really hope Smart isn't our next HC, at least without him getting some experience elsewhere first.
Posted on 5/20/12 at 9:26 am to TreyAnastasio
He played his soph year at 220ish, so if he just drops 15-20 pounds then he's at a good back weight. Even if he comes in and is a slightly better Fowler, I'd rather run that back than Corey Grant
